Good morning Oscar it's Martin from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Thank you for another wonderful video, the Caledonian locomotive and coaches look extremely impressive together and they all run smoothly together. The model railway show was very interesting as well, it was great to see how many different layouts there was. I recently went to the garden centre which is only a few miles from where I live and bought a metal Hornby Dublo bridge for £5. I now have two of them. It was interesting to see the collection of wagons and track you bought at the show, it's amazing how many different variations of rolling stock have been produced over the years. But I think your collection is just amazing. I also like the tunnel as well, it looks great on the railway. Well its time for my tea and toasted tea cake ☕. Thank you once again for a lovely video Oscar and ill see you next Sunday. Keep safe and have a good week ahead 🙂👍🚂

@@oscarpaisley Hello Oscar, it's Martin from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It's great to be talking to you on a Monday afternoon, it would be great to see you at a model railway exhibition somewhere and to say hello in person. You would laugh if you saw me watching your videos, I only have my mobile phone and I hold a large magnifying glass in front so I can get a bigger picture of your wonderful videos. My son calls me a technical dinosaur, Lol. But he is a good lad and I am very proud of him, and he loves your railway as well. Keep safe Oscar and I will be watching next Sunday. 🙂👍🚂☕

Great video as always. I have CR123 and the 14010. Running on Peco NS track with no magnahesion results in poor running both in terms of power connectivity and traction. I opted to put tender pickups on both and also found a front bogie from somewhere with pickups for 14010. These modifications transformed the models on my layout. Best wishes.

Thanks for your latest video, love it. Don't apologise if your videos are longer than you'd like. I say the longer, the better. This video has great content, I like how you explained your wiring with your 3 rail Hornby Dublo trackage. Really cool to see the layouts at the Leicester show, wow. The Calendonian single giant wheel Hornby model you ran was great stuff. Also enjoyed you showing what you aquired at the Leicester show. Best regards from your number one fan in British Columbia, Canada.

Good morning Oscar, that was a interesting start, glad you managed to sort out what was going on with the wiring, i know sometimes when i get something in my head that it should work its hard to unlearn and start again. That looked like a good show, i enjoyed seeing the mono rail, looked like a bit of fun. You did quite well with your purchases i love excitement and enthusiasm in your voice when you're showing of your finds. I've had a nice surprise this week, a friend in work lost her father a couple of years ago, and every so often when she goes to see her mum, she brings me something she's found, this time it was a Triang Princess Victoria in br black early version, unfortunately no tender but says she'll look next time she's home. And a very beautiful Triang Britannia again in BR but green. Im looking forward to cleaning and servicing these and see ir i can get them to work. Enjoy your new bits, see you next week. Eddy xxx

Good evening Eddy the wiring made my head hurt a bit to start with, then when I suddenly realised my mistake. It was quite simple to put it right just a little inconvenient, but definitely all part of the fun of developing a model/toy railway, sounds like some great items you acquired hopefully the tender will show up soon, or keep an eye on the well-known auction site for the relevant tender, shouldn't be too difficult to find in reasonable condition. Thanks again all the best. Oscar

Hi Oscar, Always good to sort out a problem and sometimes it takes a few attempts and fresh looks. Great box of goodies from the show and lovely Jinty in maroon. These converter tracks are gems. The 4-4-2 is a bit special with these lovely coaches. I’m fiddling around with a shuttle at the moment, 08 shunter and car transporter at one end and unloading bay at the other end, all good stuff 😀. Hi Oscar, what a bumper video full of interesting content! Super footage from the TCS show, some really amazing models on display; the overhead monorail system was fascinating. You certainly came from the show away with some wonderful items, i would be the same you have to get things while you have the opportunity don't you. What a fabulous model the Ex Caledonian single is, it sounds lovely and seems to run well at slow speeds. Those 'deluxe' tunnels were what I aspired to when I got my first Hornby sets with the cardboard printed tunnel with the plastic ends!😊 Regards, Antony.

I am so envious when you go to a TCS in Leicester Oscar and this time you certainly came away with a good haul of items. I have never seen those converter rails before and must confess that I am at a loss as to how they were intended to function. Those coaches look so right that they must have been intended to run with that loco, either that or it was a happy accident. Thank you again fr yet another marvelous Sunday video. Regards, David.

Lots of interesting things today, I really liked the tin plate “gondola” car suspended from the high rail at the TCS meet. You must have enjoyed the show.. I'm sure that I would have? A great haul of goodies that you bought home too? My one of my first Well wagons was the R 213 with the crane. Sadly the crane warped and was thrown away many, many years ago. It was red and white, if I remember that far back (to the late 50s)? I have just been working on a couple of R118 Well wagons for my grandson. Pressed the axles out and freed the wheels. Having a young enthusiastic grandson to work under the layout is wonderful? I'm too old for crawling under layouts these days.. I did not realise just how many optional tracks that you had through the 3 rail station area? A lot of planning there? Nice to see it working as you wanted? Take care, Rob from down under, down under....

Good evening Robin I definitely did enjoy the show, Great to hear you had one of these cranes to play with, amazingly the mechanism still functions in the crane but the cab is very wobbly on the base. I think it's better left sitting on the wagon. I've got most of these wagons cleaned up now. Will have to get them on railway soon. Great to hear you grandson is willing to do the crawling under the railway for you. I'm not sure my son would be so helpful.. All the best. Oscar

The train show was so interesting. That huge layout at the beginning was amazing and the tinplate trains were gorgeous. Looks like you got some nice things too. The gearing of the later locos is a big improvement. The original Tri-ang gearing used a twin start worm and a 40 tooth gear on the drive axle, making the gearing 20:1. The later gearing uses a single start worm and a 28 tooth gear on the drive axle, making it 28:1. The change in gearing makes just enough difference to greatly improve slow speed running with the motor doing 28 revolutions to 1 revolution of the drive axle instead of the former 20 to 1. I think the plastic gears are also lower friction. I think I have turned into a bit if a nerd! There is so much knowledge to discover. 😊

Another great video Oscar, I certainly don't mind the extra length. That was a nice collection of goodies you got yourself the 2 coaches do indeed go well with the Single Wheeler, I think Hornby have done packs like that in the past with loco and coaches. It seems to run well apart from the mishaps, you need to give your signal man a ticking off or is it because he hasn't got use to the wonky floor in his new bendy signal box🤔😊 Thanks for the show, all the best Rob

At 40:30 it was a bit puzzling why the pickup keeper plate is labelled R.354. The explanation is that was the locomotive that the chassis and so the keeper plate was first built for, the R.354 Dean Single Lord of the Isles. I hope Rovex sensibly reusing existing parts for a newly numbered locomotive variation did not cause too many problems for purchasers not steeped in Triang history back to 1961 or more. Even the model number R.354 got reused for a diesel shunter with the special counter balanced coupling hook , just to confuse things further.

Evening John, thanks again for looking in, until you pointed that out I had not noticed that. Defiantly a good use of parts or a mould already available, possibly quite costly to alter the mould. I do have a Lord of the Isles in a Hornby Railways box with instructions dated 1972. All the best. Oscar

I've got three of the clerestory coaches, two of which came with the Country Local set with a Jinty, which I also still have. Theres someone who does 3D printed interiors for them which if you unclip the roof they just slot in. The spoked wheels arent original. The silver seal wheels in the other one are the right ones. Great haul though. I might have to have a look at that show in Leicester given that I'm based in Rugby.

Hi Oscar, a very interesting video, thank you. That big layout at the beginning of the TCS show, was that Life-Like models?... or maybe Tyco? Life Like made a lot of accessories back in the day with great play-value but I hadn't realised they had such an extensive range. I just need to think of an excuse to put one of those rotating radar towers on my layout! There was a brief glimpse of a couple of the bascule bridges that could be found in the Hornby catalogue in early 70's and, as you would know, were originally produced by Pola. All very interesting and lots of fun! All the best Guy
