I used to be deathly allergic to wasps. Nearly died when I was a kid from taking a hornet sting on top of my head. I literally had to take anti-venom shots weekly for two years when I was a kid to build my immunity. To this day, as a 46 year old big burly man, I have PTSD from wasps. I hate them things. Just one sting will still usually send me to ER. I got stung a couple of years ago when a yellow jacket got into my motorcycle jacket when I was riding. Got me three times on shoulder. Spent the night in the ER. While I still think yellow jackets in particular are the a'holes of the insect world, your videos have really given me a new appreciation and respect of these creatures. Fascinating little buggers.
@wetlettuce47685 жыл бұрын
Thankfully I'm not deathly allergic to wasps but I had an immense phobia of them. Most likely stems from when I was about 3-5 and one stung me in the mouth after sneaking into a can of soda that shit is traumatising lol. However after watching these these videos I've been able to keep my composure around them just yesterday I was attacked by a yellow jacket while driving my big rig on the highway and I didn't crash! That's progress in my eyes.

KZbin gave me the rate just under 4k, so I had to manually select the 4k resolution. Maybe the frame rate was the reason. But 4k 60p vids show by default. I stream from a wi-fi router with a 200mb service.

My grandmother used to call me a ninny when I was a child, she passed almost six years ago now. I got a smile hearing you say that. That was one of the more pg old school names she would say. It's cute you share your finds with your chickens. I can't imagine the feeling of encountering such a large nest. I once trimmed an evergreen, and when placing the branches in the green waste bin, noticed a 4-inch diameter "platter" as I tossed the branches, then turned and saw a similar wasp nest in the pile I just cut. Fortunately, I got stung only once in the neck by a wasp. And, as noted by other commenters, wasp stings hurt for a long time.

I've discovered tea tree oil works great as a repellant of any pollinating stinging insects. Just spray on the areas that the flying hell bugs will most likely buzz to first. Like on your head if you make home deliveries, or around your back down to your legs when doing yard work. Works for me! I'm psychologically allergic to all kinds!!! Great video!!

If I could make a recommendation, I have found that an electric yard blower/leaf vacuum is really nice. Obviously, use it in the leaf vacuum configuration. The inlet is 4 inches wide and moves a lot of air. The wasps go into the leaf catcher and are destroyed by the impeller. It isn't quite as easy to position the tip, but that massive inlet is really nice for catching flying and swarming wasps. Great video! I HATE getting stung!

This summer, My old Ford truck became a massive nests for YJ's, They were under the hood, all around the bed, between the bed and the cab, and in all the holes in the top of the bed where a camper would be attached. We decided instead of trying to spray and have them blasting out all over, we rolled & pushed the truck into our garagemade sure we sealed any holes or cracks with tons of newspaper, we closed the windows and put our camera in there. Then we let off several bug bombs. We watched it all go down from the safety of our house! It worked pretty well too! Only had about a dozen left fighting. Then others outside couldn't find their nest.

Thank you for answering the question about the bug spray possible cross contamination and feeding of the larvae to the chickens . Ya need two vacuums when you have such jobs as this one that was really hellish to watch much less to see what you where going through . Old remedies to treat wasp stings are pure white vinegar applied to the area helps with the itching and sections of white onion applied to the sting site helps with the swelling as do orange peako or black tea tea bags which are damp applied to the sting sites as both the onion and the tea moist tea bags help reduce the swelling . Take care and thanks for the video . Oh I think I have seen a video about what you are doing with some queen’s , however not sure if it’s the project you are thinking of or not . I won’t saw what I think the video with the queens is about .
