Grew up in New England, got attacked by the northern version of these suckers, must have taken a couple hundred stings. Face, hands, neck, all over suffered so many stings I was feverish and swollen like I’ve never been before or since. Now I’m fairly immune from stings. Will swell a minor amount but the swelling dissipates rather quickly.

so what would happen if you took a small chunk of dry ice and put it into the nest opening and covered it? suppose it would suffocate them silently without warning so you have a dead nest and less work?

And to think I'd probably break a sweat digging a hole big enough for that nest.....and those yellow jackets carried it out of the ground a grain or tiny pebble one at a time. I'm guessing they place pebbles by the entrance to keep the soil from eroding when it rains and washing in on their nest??
