Same here. My family is baffled why I watch these videos. I tell them it's allowing me to learn more about bees, wasps, hornets, etc. It's good to know they're not just out to sting me. It's kinda like desensitization for me as well.

I nearly died when I was 16 from 3 stings from a bald faced "hornet" on my throat. I had never had a reaction from past stings. I nearly had to be intubated. Beyond my throat, tongue and face swelling up like I went 4 rounds with Muhammad Ali, I broke out in hives that were quarter to half dollar size that eventually turned to something like dry maroon scabs. Head to toe. I was very lucky. I've been stung since, and have not had a reaction ever again. It doesn't mean I won't though. I'm putting this here to educate anyone that thinks it's no big deal to be stung. It's a FACT that you can develop a severe allergy to bee or wasp or hornet venom at ANY TIME. It can come and go. A good friend of mine's father was stung on top of the head by a red carpenter/paper wasp while mowing grass home alone. They found him next to his still running lawnmower deceased. They said from sting to death was no more that 45 minutes. He had been stung his entire. Often. He was a farmer. Just a heads up. Leave these things to the professionals.

@@vincec.202 I had my first anaphylactic reaction at 9, but I had been stung by lots of different kinds of bees many times before. It really can happen to anyone, at any time. My sting was also by a white-faced hornet to the throat and the introduction of the allergen in such a sensitive spot is what triggered my allergy. I wish more people knew how to spot the early stages of anaphylaxis and how to effectively use an epi-pen. It can happen so fast in small children.

My sincere sympathy for the loss of your Dad. I lost mine to Alzheimer's 4 years ago and my Mom to cancer a year ago. Even having them into their 90's wasn't long enough. The best of them lives on in you and your kids. You'll see them every time you look in the mirror or at their little faces.

aww... Its a hard thing in life to lose a father you're so close to. When my stepdad passed he had been in my life since I was a about a year old and had a heart attack slipping into a diabetic coma while I was in college. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I silently cried at night for a few weeks and consoled my mom as much as I could out of state. She was lost but had his family and friends help her get back to life. Years later mom retired and I took care of her in my home for three years while still working full time. She passed from cancer and was at peace no longer suffering. I miss my parents and still hear the lessons they taught me. My sincerest condolences Hornet King.
