I like the long format with discussion , description and commentary. Learn a lot of new info. Calves and their mommas almost never go the way you want them to.
@CarpeSus10 ай бұрын
Thank you. I had more content than usual but not a good place to split it into more videos. Usually 8 minutes is about it for my stuff. However, I will endeavor to make a few longer ones from time to time. So cattle aren't highly predictable and easy to manage when they are on the loose? That calf wanted its mama, but did not want to go back in the gate. Another time, I held wires spread and the calf came through the fence without much prompting, LOL, you just never know.
@collinweiss498310 ай бұрын
@@CarpeSus it is dark and the calf is probably scared or at least nervous and someone is flashing bright lights in his eyes blinding him further so anything you can do to calm the calf down is positive. But be careful! I once had momma charge me thru the barbed wire fence like it wasn’t even there to protect her calf.

@collinweiss4983 Thanks for asking. We collapsed 12 hives into 6 for the winter and they did great. We plan to expand them again into 12 again in another week or two.

@@CarpeSushahahah--no, not at all. In fact, I could tell you a story or two about MY "rounding up" loose cattle! At 85, MY running days are over, unfortunately. I know that the owners of those stray animals greatly appreciate your help. It is gratifying to know that there are people who will go-the-extra-mile (esp in the middle of the night) to save someone else's property! As to Mice/Rats--here in our neighborhood we have the endemic "Roof Rat" which scales trees in order to gain access to roofs--and thus to enter houses and cause much mischief. We might wonder what the Mouse (in your video) hoped to discover in a tree in the middle of a large pasture??? Maybe a hidie-hole? Evil John and I have a great time talking about your latest hunts! It's a way for me to vicariously run alongside you and plan the best strategy.

Great video, like always. There is so much to learn from watching your videos! Just one thing: wouldn't a shorter barel be more practical, especially on running pigs?
@CarpeSus8 ай бұрын
Barrel length does not really matter for running hogs at that distance. I am using a tripod and pivoting on it and a shorter barrel won't help, don't believe. Thoughts?

The Leap L6 640 has all the bells and whistles along with the higher resolution. The L3 has them, but is 384 resolution with a 35mm lens. The Storm S3 has comparatively few frills, is smaller and lighter and is 384 resolution with the same lens. IMHO, the S3 is the best bang for the buck, but the L6 is definitely better. So S3 for size, weight, price, and general utility, but the L6 if you have the $$ and don't mind the size and weight.
