My favorite noise on the LA metro is the melodic howl made by the brakes of the Breda subway cars pulling into the station.

I have had a bad experience with my the Metro Rail horn: I was walking down the ramp at Wardlow station while a southbound P2000 train was leaving right next to me, it stopped for a car that had stopped on the wrong sine of the crossing gate. Before it moved, it suddenly honked the high horn and I was startled to death! It was so loud since it was so close!

@Albert Carello The Red Line Breda A650 cars have the same sound as the original Pacific Electric. I hope that the new CRRC HR4000 series that will replace the Breda A650 in the future will have that same horn sound.

Most light rail horns are just speakers. The Nippon sharyo p865/2020 has a wch 0555 bell and a new cast p #3 bell on standby

They are required for a horn at minimum, the flashing lights are not required.

Interstate Railfan they are speakers. The p2020 low gong is a wrrs/wch 0555 motor bell
