As for the paladin, democracy is not a reason to take away a characters agency. Alignment is flimsy as is, the paladin broke no oath worthy of losing his power. But hey, becoming an antipaladin is cool. The moment they try to take the magic sword, though, I'd have killed them. They wanted to force a paladin to turn evil, that's cool, but they suffer the consequences. An antipaladin would not give up their things because the party asked, and its their fault the paladin is in this mess. And because the antipaladin's goal is saving the elves, the party is, has, and continued to actively belittle, impeded, and even contribute against that noble cause. The moment they asked for the antipaladins sword and detrimented their goal is the moment the anti paladin should have shown them what it means to be an anti paladin. Antipaladins do not bend to the weak and justless.

Geez we get 4 stories. Story one : There's something to be said about staying in a bad situation, at some point you're a bit to blame for continuing to show up to assholes who mistreat you games. Story two : Your character would also be rightfully in game pissed off when suggestion ends. Ya NPC's usually aren't around when a spell ends, you very much are. Sadly the most mature thing for you to do is probably what they did, said their piece and left. They could have also brought it up privately with the DM, but it'd likely be a similar blow up. Lastly you don't have to try to make bard and rogue look like the assholes, they are hands down the assholes here. Story three : Doge pretty much got it. The Druid is likely whatever the most fitting "ist" would be in the situation and the DM didn't have enough of a back bone to tell Druid to get over herself. Good on buddy and the store owner for kicking that group out of the store. Story four : An petty act of being a dick revokes your whole life of trying to save the world, Screw that. If they really want to harp on it, have the DM retcon the action and move the hell on. Ya an Anti-paladin ain't really great against demon but they are really good against a party of assholes if you wanted to go down that route, they provoked you enough.

I spent almost a decade believing that I was an out of control rage monster who had to shut myself off from others, when the worst I ever actually did was call him an asshole for canceling plans at the last minute or the like. The funny thing about toxic people is they have a crazy way of making you think YOU'RE the toxic one.

Yikes. For the final story, I would have brought up every evil act the rest of the party has committed and that if I lose my powers over something this petty, than they are more chaotic evil than me since they have done far more evil and should be kicked since they are playing chaotic evil characters, not chaotic neutral, and would tell the dm that as good of a campaign this could have been, the party ruined it for me since they are the real evil characters here and that I won't be coming back for another session with this group ever again. I may be harsh, but when the rest of the party is literally performing more evil acts and forces the dm to have me lose my powers over something that wouldn't be all that bad, yeah, I'm going to be harsh. I may also sound entitled, but when everyone ruins the fun of one person and straight up bully them because they forced that change, yeah, my reasoning is sound imo.

I’ve heard the story about the barbarian PC being magically controlled by the other players before (Crispy’s Tavern or Crit Crab I think?). I’ll repeat here what I said there. The barbarian had an advantage that the magical characters didn’t consider. A low intelligence and . . . RAAAAAGE!!! Here’s what I would have done. After the players refuse to stop mind controlling my barbarian, at the beginning of the next game I would ask them each to pick a random number between 10 and 20. After they make their choice, I would write down their chosen numbers next to their characters names on my character sheet. Then during combat I would rage. After the combat ends I would then roll a d20 and check it against their chosen numbers. If the INT check matches or exceeds their numbers, my barbarian will recognize them as allies. If I roll low, then I’ll confuse them with the enemy and attack. Squishy wizards with no spell slots left and only d4 hit points per level won’t last long against a raging barbarian with 18+ STR, Rage powers, the Power Strike feat, and who sees him as the enemy. When both occurred the players asked me in advance if they could do it and I thought it would be a hilarious way to slowly teach him that these behaviors don't fly in the real world. The key thing is after the situation I was close to blowing is over, I'm back to roleplay.

For instance, the GM for my game has us play out intro's before our characters get together. I wasn't really in the mood for it but tried anyways but the intro the GM had setted up didn't match my character so didn't feel like doing it and decided to skip it. Later I opened up to their spouse ( another player, direct message instead of group chat ) about how I was feeling at the time and what not, they instantly went to their spouse ( the GM ) and told them basically everything was I saying and went into a kinda defence mode. So now all the games we are doing are being put on hold till the Gm writes a book of how to interact with the GM.

I honestly think the OP of story 4 is blaming the party a bit too much. Like there were other options. They could have had their character go for redemption and gain their powers back. It talk to the DM away from the other players and see what options they had. Instead they went for an extreme “well my character is evil now” and seem to blame the rest of the party for not having a good time with it. I’m not saying the other players were good or blameless I just think OP seem to not realise that they had some agency over the situation

Hey, Doge? Question about 0:35 and the graph; does it break down how many watch a sizeable proportion of your video, and how many just leave within a few minutes? 'Cause I remember that back in the day it considered *every* click on a link, regardless of length, which gave disproportionate data.

I genuinely get more mad at the op’s in these stories for never standing up for themselves

Social Anxiety is a helluva drug [especially if it was caused by abuse], plus a lot of people play games as an escape from terrible IRL situations that may have contributed the problems they have. I can imagine being frustrated but sometimes situation pending you wanna stand up for yourself but at the most inopportune mind your brain vetos that with a bombardment of intrusive thoughts and "what ifs". Not as anxious as I am now and putting my foot down more just more or less conveying that it isn't always as easy as it looks to tell somebody off and can sympathize with some of these OPs. [quick edit because the youtube robot apparently hated the original post due to f bomb]

@@WyntheRogue I get not wanting to outright yell at them but at the minimum….just leave if you are not having fun no talking required. If that’s to hard then you have deep rooted issues and you need therapy and d&d shouldn’t even be on ur to do list you should be doing your best to get better. D&d is an escape for people like that you will never progress if all you do is escape, fix yourself then come back and play d&d as a regular hobby instead of an escape from a terrible reality it doesn’t get any better unless you get out of your comfort zone (speaking from my personal experience)
