The queen still has some of the skills from when she was a mechanic in WW2 and will occasionally mend her car if it breaks down.
@whovianhistorybuff2 жыл бұрын
Maybe that's why her car of choice was a land rover defender, most modern cars need a laptop and a degree in computer engineering to set it right again, an LR defender can be fixed with just some baling wire and a hammer.

The British should not be insulted, as the people who made this were British. Queen Elizabeth II is a veteran of World War II and did serve as a mechanic during that war, which is just another reason for the British to be proud of her.

How about you go watch the CGPGrey video on the royal family's allowance. You'll see that they actually allow the British government to take in most of the income off of their land so, in a sense, the people don't pay the royal family a dime. The royal family subsidizes the general public to the tune of more than 2 pounds per person per year.

@onemercilessming13424 жыл бұрын
Alex-Zander Browne--They aren't satirizing ANY repair service. Princess Elizabeth, as she was during WW II, was a subaltern to "do her bit" for the war effort. Much was made of her ability to change a tire and one of the biographies quotes the Queen Mother as saying (with disgust) that Elizabeth was chattering away all during dinner about her day in the mechanic's pit. "We had sparking plugs all through dinner" is how the biography phrased it. Mention was even made by Helen Murrin playing ER II in "The Queen", where she, upon dealing with the immediate aftermath of Diana's death, drives through a rivulet and breaks the axle of her vehicle. She calls for help and is asked if she's sure about the axle--and gives the person on the other end the "what-for" about her "military service". In fact, ER II's many military ranks are purely ceremonial ones and her subaltern status during WW II was hyped for the morale of the nation. It's not as if she went to boot camp and then toted a rifle, or was assigned barnacle-chiseling in the Royal Navy.

@dylantennant65942 жыл бұрын
Dude this is history. Queen Elizabeth really did contribute by being a mechanic and driver during the war. The only thing this gets wrong was that at the time of this, Elizabeth II was considered to be heir apparent. One because the war effort took away from that, and with King George in relatively good health, their wasn’t a huge concern. The other reason being that Elizabeth becoming heir apparent was a very unusually thing as George (better known by his birth name Albert), was second in line, and only became King Edward abdicated the throne, so Elizabeth wasn’t initially set to become Queen and was not thinking about it during the war.
