Take the aux battery completely out. Take the positive cable off the aux and put it on main. Tape up the aux battery negative. Tazer mini to turn off the auto stop start. Done. No problems.

Installed a Tazer and have been pleased with the result. It not only remembers the last auto stop button setting but addresses annoying things like the seat belt ding, 3 honk alarm and auto fog light shut off when the hi beams are enabled.

That was a great explanation of how the start/stop works and what to do with it if you want/need to eliminate the feature. If I remember correctly the negative cable location for auxiliary battery is now the inner cable. I think it was changed in 2021 or 2022.

For what it is worth I ran that stop/start eliminator for 3 years with no issues. I did replace the batteries after 3 years. But didn’t have to mess with the stop start.

Very clear information about how to stop Aux. Batt. system draining the main one. I have a 2018 wrangler Sahara and I had the same issues last month with the main battery discharging completely after start/stop amber message popping up. I did exactly as you did and mine behaved as yours. The only thing I have to do is like previously, switching off the start/stop after starting the engine. But no battery issues anymore. This is the worst invention in the century after electrical vehicles.

Did the AUX delete a couple of days ago. Super easy took 10 minutes. Replaced the main battery with a 94R H7 AGM. I would suggest everyone does this to avoid being stranded.

The aux battery is in parallel with the main battery, so the system can't easily see it if it's disconnected. The theory is these act like one larger capacity battery to better tolerate the ridiculous start stop "feature". As you mentioned, the smaller battery can start to suck down on the larger one which is basically a parasitic drain. The whole thing is silly IMO.

I have a 2018 JL Wrangler Unlimited that I purchased in 2017. I have had two cycles of replacing both batteries (I live in Arizona and the heat is death to all batteries) after the the second double battery replacement, I got the indication of the stop/start feature inop/off fault on every startup. The Jeep rep said at the time, that it would reset after a couple cycles, which it did not. Also, at this time, I did the aux battery disconnct that you described with the ground and fuse. After about a couple months, the Jeep would not start as the new main battery was discharged. I put a battery charger on it and reconnected the fuse and aux battery cable. Now I get a message on startup that says "Aux switches Temporarily Unavailable Battery Charging" every time I start up, which doesn't give me a good feeling about driving any where I might get stranded. I plan on taking it into the dealer and have it checked out since it appears their battery replacement may have shorted or burned something out. That's been my experience. If anyone has had a similar issue, please let me know if or how you fixed it? Thanks!

Did the same delete to my 18 jl a few months ago and here’s what I’ve noticed. Definitely does not take away the stop start function as mentioned. I still press the button every time I get in the car but oh well. Recently I’ve been having some start up issues. About 60% of the time I’m fine. But I’ll get a single click with no start up. Give it a few minutes and it’s all the sudden fine again. Also, if I leave the automatic start stop on, I run the risk of getting stuck at a stoplight. Car will shut off, attempt to start up but kills the engine and I’m stuck for about 30 - 60 seconds, then fine again. Maybe old battery? Maybe starter components? Not quite sure.

Soo, I removed fuse 42 and removed that ground cable as you have shown. Later, I needed to install a new main battery in the jeep so I started disconnecting the ground cable first. As soon as I had the ground completely removed I from the battery I noticed that my interior light was still on. I then went and pushed the ignition button and everything lit up as normal. I have the diesel so maybe it's wired differently but I'm thinking that this method is only killing the voltage check on the aux battery at start up. It's totally still wired in the system and can still go bad and kill your main battery. You might want to check your jeep. Remove the negative cables from your main and see if you still have power. I can't wait to see the next video.

The main battery is still the old lead acid type. It can't handle the type of drain downs of the auto stop. Auto stop will shorten the life of a lead acid by about half. That's why the aux batter is Advanced Glass Mat type. They can handle the pull downs of auto stop. Now if you switch your main battery to AGM you shouldn't have any problems. Most new cars use AGM because of all the computer modules that still run after you turn off the engine for several minutes. So pull the fuse and pony up the big bucks for a full size AGM and you should be golden.

Okay so just to clarify, taping off the terminal and pulling the fuse, doesn't disable it, but it keeps the bad aux from draining the main battery? I can remember to push the stupid button. I just don't want it to drain my main.

This is just crazy. I have a 2022 Gladiator and I removed the battery cable (the smaller one with the post attached) and the fuse. And the auto start / stop still activates !!!!

I did the delete recently. It got rid of the icon on the dash. At a stop light a message came up to put Jeep in park then select gear to drive. Also the D was flashing. It wouldn’t go forward until I put it in park, then D.

The auxiliary battery powers essential equipment like the engine start/stop system, and other systems that need power when the engine is off. This helps to reduce strain on the main battery and alternator. I don't know if the auxiliaries are then going to use the main battery or stop functioning?????

Followed your video to T, '21 Wrangler drove great, no dash light and continued to push button to turn off SS, next morning my Jeep wouldn't start, dead main battery...Main showed full charge night before. Any ideas why it wouldn't start from over night?

If you don't want the auto stop start feature, just put fuse 42 back in. The only issue is that you will have the warning light to service the auto stop start AKA " AVENGERS LIGHT". This is how i run my Jeep and never had any issues. I used to have fuse 42 out, but I kept forgetting to press the stupid button. - I hate this stop start system.

Great video. But nothing seems to work for me. I had this problem last year and the dealership replaced the main battery at a cost of almost $400. Lights remain on say stop start function is disabled and not working.

It will draw from the main battery/alternator for charging, but since there is never a load put on it, it shouldn't be an issue.

@@cmh2111 I have a Tazer Mini on my 2021 Wrangler JLU Ecodiesel and with 5035 miles my main went dead. Replaced both the Aux battery and the main with an AGM battery. We will see. Still on wait list for the recalled high pressure fuel pump. Unbelievable!

Will this same process work on a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee and pull F75 Dual Battery fuse ? Then attach aux neg/ pos to mai n battery.Wanting to remove aux battery completely and run off main battery. I also have a eliminator to disable the start stop feature.

It's insane that GM does have a warning or error code for Aux Battery. My error code reader saw nothing. I was freaking out wondering if this problem is my Alternator, is it my starter, is it my primary battery, is it a mystery electrical issue? I finally tracked it down to the aux battery. Come on GM!

I had this but after the change I disconnected the negative battery cable and let it sit for 20 mins unconnected to reset the system. Hooked the battery cable back up and the warning light went away.

@@robertfox4524 Yeah I had the Tazer JL Lite installed in my Jeep a few weeks ago. I did like that functionality. I'm a little scared to retry it though. I have the manual transmission and after installing the Tazer, and getting up into top gears, the Jeep went into limp mode / service transmission. This all happened after installing 35's and adding in the Tazer to set the tire size. I read there are specific steps to follow for the manual trans when setting tire size or gear ratio after the fact. Well, my Jeep spent 5 days at the dealer to get reprogrammed and the gear position sensor get replaced. It's been working great since as the dealer reprogrammed for 35's. I kind of don't want to mess with it now, but I've been interested to try again some day. We'll see if I get brave enough lol.

PS we rented a new car in Vegas in March. The odometer had 2886 miles on it and the computer reported that auto stop had saved 174 miles of gas in that short time. That's 5%. Nothing to sneeze about.

But at the expense of other things. Money isn't saved, it's shifted to cover more wear&tear on starters and engine components, being started & stopped hundreds of times more than normal No savings whatsoever.
