Easiest $5 sqft for tile tearout ever, gotta love it 😂

It was pretty easy

Best point made was people who just live with what they got. I get calls and when I'm out at the initial visit see floors with massive issues. I try not to highlight it but it always transpires that the reason I'm there is because the last tiler did that failed job and now they call in someone competent. What annoys me most is the badly done job is always the quick easy money and I'm left with the big technical job with the massive amount of prep work. Yet lads get to do these money makers and skidadle.

I made this video to also share on some groups. I talk with a lot of tile setters that claim to never see a failed floor. I think they’re looking for a floor that’s all cracked up and falling apart. This job definitely failed. The homeowner is replacing it because she no longer likes the color. The fact that it was crunchy only added to her case but wasn’t the primary reason for replacement.

whenever you do a tearout you pray for a bad previous install

Every time. A bad installation is much easier to remove than one done properly.

Doing my best to help our trade. I love what I do and I believe anyone can set tile. Please, if you’re going to charge for the service do the job appropriately. I hate seeing customers pay good money for bad installations.

Man! its not a tile floor its a floating floor!

Almost! Only nailed at the perimeter. Of course the sheet in the video is the only one that broke in half. We were pulling up full 3x5 sheets once we got going.

How do you install tile?
@garathjax4204 жыл бұрын
Depends on what I'm tiling on. Concrete _ eco 918 primer and eco rapid set flexi white . Double butter. Timber _ Q matt . Notched trowel the area. Lay d matting on adhesive and squeeze into the floor from the middle out to key. Key the matt. Notch trowel matt...back butter tile... Never had a call back. We have concrete boards in Ireland but I refuse to use them. I stuck with what works for me.

Is that ceramic tile? Never seen a porcelain tile crack.....Only cheap ceramic and stone like travertine, marble etc...
@friendlyneighborhoodtileguy4 жыл бұрын
This was ceramic. Porcelain is subject to reflective cracking as well, it doesn’t absorb movement well. We see lots of hairline cracks in porcelain tile direct bonded to concrete, for example.
