My nephew was really into Slenderman when that stabbing happened. It made my aunt really paranoid and she asked me if I knew anything about it since she knew I was up on that kind of stuff. I told her about creepypasta and how he was just a made up guy that became big and had a couple video games. My nephew, who was a young child at the time, stood there mad saying "He's real! You just don't know what you're talking about." So I ended up telling him I knew exactly what I was talking about because I was the one who made it up. He was more impressed to have an uncle who created Slenderman than he was that Slenderman was real. So he bought it and ended up telling his whole school his uncle created Slenderman 😂

She cried and begged her father for help with voices and was clearly distressed by her mental state, that was only getting worse and worse, just for it to go ignored. @@TheZodiacRipper usually by the mother? I disagree. Fathers are more likely to expect their kids to "toughen up" and pull themselves up by their bootstraps. I'm sure it's equal, and sex doesn't make a difference. What would make a difference is how you were raised, if your parents felt the same, religious beliefs, etc. Just because something has happened in your own life, doesn't mean that's how it is in general for the entire population of a group of people. Like men, women, etc. Just like the old belief that women weren't domestic abusers, weren't susceptible to alcoholism, etc. Same with the Zoloft thing. Zoloft has mental health benefits for tons of people, not so with other, in such cases they should tell their doctor and try a new medication. This is what (to me), Killed Creepypasta. Plus the Media did what it always did, *blame the fictional stories / television shows* instead of blaming the real problem.. which is usually an untreated mental illness / Pyschopathy. This also happened to Beavis and butt-head. (The fire incident, it was a load of bullshit that the media hopped on, even though the kid who started the fire, his parents were trailer park junkies and left matches and lighters everywhere. it was a matter of time before that trailer caught fire. yes it was tragic that the kid's sister died.. but the blood is on the parents' hands. Also, the kid never even saw "Beavis and Butthead, he didn't have cable.)
@SethirophBayonet666 Жыл бұрын
Yeah. It is BS. The media sometimes tends to blame fictional characters and media for stuff like this. Fictional characters and media have nothing to do with someone's mental health. People that actually believe that certain media "caused" a crime. Is like saying violent games "cause shootings" which is not true. I play violent games, and I don't commit crimes. I actually know better than some people. And more people have to realize that fictional movies/games have nothing to do with IRL crimes that have happened. It actually makes me upset that people point fingers at things that they don't know anything about. They probably haven't even seen or played these things before.
@ZombieSazza Жыл бұрын
@@SethirophBayonet666and if we look back at history this sort of blame game has always existed, nowadays it’s “violent video games” that create criminals, in the past it was “violent movies”, before that it was “scary books”. @masterseal0418 Жыл бұрын
Even video games and music are blamed for real world tragedies, which I despise. Whether it's Manhunt or Final Fantasy VIII encouraging a murder in the UK for the former and Mexico for the latter, or Columbine having ties to industrial artists I adore such as KMDFM and Nine Inch Nails(which both denied allegations, prior to KMFDM's founders Sascha Konteisko working on a side project with Skold and later permanent member Lucia Caffreli called MDFMK after En Esch and Gunther Shultz left due to internal conflicts between members, whereas the aforementioned Skold and Raymond Watts/PIG went into successful solo careers, but KMFDM later reunited with 2002's Attak and 2003's WWIII). Frankly, blaming the media especially what I mentioned earlier, worsens the aftermath of a tragedy, and turns out to be book-burning and fearmongering than anything poisoning the youth. Mental health is more important to treat before all hell breaks loose, rather than let the person either become a murderer or kill themselves and blame shit like Judas Priest causing two men to take their own lives or think Minecraft caused one cause of terroristic acts. And the fact manga became the new target of entitled parents from Florida, is concerning in fact. One parent group was successful in banning Assassination Classroom from some school districts(despite being oblivious to it's context), and sadly Attack On Titan and Death Note are about to be next in line. Just let the kids enjoy their manga, and all this made me realize it's similarities to satire towards southern US parents(including the ones from Alabama, regarding their homophobia/racism).

I’m someone who’s very into psychology and I just wanted to mention in relation to the first case with the girl being diagnosed with DID. DID is NOT a disorder in which someone becomes dangerous. This girl was obviously going through something mentally that had no relation with her DID. The voices MIGHT be from her having DID. Also want to add that there is no such things as an “evil alter”. For the girl it’s most likely that the alter(s) (if thats whats happening) who were speaking in her mind thought that the only real way to help/protect her was to have her cause harm to others and to make her slowly feel like she’s going crazy. Or she could have just been misdiagnosed with DID and have schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder instead

I believe she had schizophrenia as well as DID. Her seeing and hearing the voices of Jack gave me a sneaking suspicion that she had schizophrenia. It makes sense that her alter took on a “demonic killer"-like personality. Otherwise, why would she be acting like a stereotypically possessed human, i.e., hunched in creepy positions, talking weird, grinning creepily, etc.?
@daisybutinhertennisoutfit11 ай бұрын
I guess what I’m wondering is, who’s to say a traumatized brain would absolutely never form an alter that is ruthless, cutthroat, and aggressive for the sake of protecting the host? If the development of many maladaptive trauma responses and personality disorders stem from severe abuse and trauma, as is the leading theory for DID, why would a similar response not be possible for DID? I hope I’m making sense. This isn’t to vilify those with DID or to say everyone with DID is violent. As someone with a psych degree, my own mental illnesses and disorder, and who currently works in behavior therapy, I believe it’s important to be honest about the reality of mental illness. Like, destigmatization shouldn’t be about “It’s not actually that bad”, it should be “It can very well be that bad and sadly maybe worse, but these are human beings who need compassion and care, and their illness does not reduce their humanity”. Not saying that you’re dishonest :) Just interested in the discussion.
@shotsfired952711 ай бұрын
@@daisybutinhertennisoutfit My personal theory follows that as well. My only question is why did she act demonic? An alter can be aggressive, sure, but why the purposely added “creep factor”? If the alters formation was to just protect the child, why would the alter begin to act as if it was a fake horror movie monster? It could be due to her interest in the horror genre and creepypasta’s considering her age too. Maybe the behaviour was a result of her limited influence from environmental sources(acted as a character because she was only truly exposed to that particular behaviour aside from the behaviour of her primary influences)? I’d be interested in your opinion since you have formal education in this sort of field.

90% of the coverage of this case seems to take this perspective and having seen the interrogation footage and read up on their background I cannot understand. For example: Morgan and Payton never really "stopped being friends" just because of Payton's parents, but Anissa and Payton basically hated each other and only interacted because they were both friends with Morgan... which in a normal court case you would call "a motive" but here I guess everyone has just decided it's a meaningless coincidence. Or that Anissa was literally the one to introduce creepypasta and slender man to Morgan. Throughout their whole interrogations it's very clear that Anissa is aware of Morgan's mental issues and uses them to present herself as this innocent girl dragged along for all this even when it's entirely unprompted. Likewise, her and Morgan's testimony contradicts constantly, but Anissa's is presented in such a way where basically all of the blame and planning was Morgan's doing vs. Morgan's testimony making blame 50/50. The latter being a really bad idea if you're trying to get away with murder, while the former is exactly what someone who got caught breaking the law would try to do. But because of her condition, Anissa's legal team was able to get the court to disregard EVERYTHING Morgan said. IDK man, whole thing from all I've looked into sounds a lot more sinister than "a poor little girl got dragged into this plot by her schizophrenic murderer friend 😭" at the VERY LEAST she was an WILLING accomplice, but people are already biased against mentally ill people + the court ruling makes every youtuber act like Morgan is a monster and Anissa is just some girl in over her head.

My mother is good friends with Angie, Morgan's mother. Morgan had early onset schizophrenia, my brother also has it, it's how our parents met. So often, schizophrenia gets portrayed as "haha I hear voices uwu" and it's disgusting. It's a horrific disease, it takes complete control of your thoughts, it's legitimately like being possessed. It's watching your body moving on its own, speaking on its own, with no control over any of it. She didn't want to hurt her, I fully, 100% believe that, because I have seen exactly what this disease does to children, and I heard my brother sob for hours on end about how he didn't want to hurt anyone but he knew that if he didn't get help, he would. That's what this disease does. You don't have a choice, you're not in control. Morgan was a very, very sick little girl. Schizophrenia is incredibly difficult to treat, early onset even more so because you can't use all the medications and treatments on children. And it's expensive, incredibly so, my family spent tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket every year for my brother's treatments and that was after insurance, and even with everything at your disposal, there's still no way to treat it 100%, and it takes years to even get it manageable. What happened was horrific, especially to Payton, but Morgan is a victim of a disorder just as much as Payton is a victim of Morgan. She was demonized by the media, portrayed as a monster because it's easier to do that than to actually address the problems with this country's mental health care. Her mother was blamed for not doing enough because it's easier to do that than accept that someone in this country was refused access to the resources and funds to even try to help her child. There are no winners in this situation, except the legal system that made a hell of a paycheck off of the trauma of these girls. The only upside to it is that it gave Morgan the resources she needed to get help. There is _no reason_ those resources should have been restricted until after she lost control of her disease and hurt someone.

I agree with this entirely. Reading about this case and hearing the way some people talk about it is upsetting. Of course she believed in Slenderman if her brain was making her see/hear him. As far as I’m aware she thought her family was in danger and that she had to do what she did. Obviously some consequences are deserved but being painted as a monster by thousands of adults for being a child with severe mental health issues is a fate nobody deserves.

If they are, some hospitals will put in extra measures, but in this case she was beyond dangerous for the other kids, and the hospital could be held liable. Plus, an average mental hospital isn’t built to sustain people THAT harmful. when refusing an admission It’s usually for the safety of the patients and staff , not for cost or whatever the fuck you’re on about.

As someone into mental health (and with my own issues) I always feel kind of upset for how Morgan is portrayed by both the media and the court system. The fact her schizophrenia manifested as early as late childhood (when it normally doesn't manifest until late teens or early 20s) is an indicator that it was EXTREMELY severe, but rather than look into any of her odd behaviors or delusions school officials and her parents just labeled her as awkward and a troublemaker (which admittedly strikes a very personal chord with me based on my own experience being similar). I also think the fact Anissa was let off on the basis of Morgan's testimony being discounted as coming from "an insane girl" in court is pretty sick. If you watch the actual interrogation footage it's noticeable how little Morgan shows any real signs of self-preservation or attempts to avoid self-incrimination, but on the SOLE GROUNDS that Anissa was the "sane" one, any contradictions were written off as delusions or deflections. Meanwhile Anissa's testimony from second one seems to be deflecting blame onto Morgan. Overall it's a situation that gets turned into this sensationalized horror story about "2 psycho girls that tried to kill their friend over slenderman!!!1!" when in reality it's just really really sad to me. None of this should've happened, but nobody gave a shit about Morgan except Payton and because of that she was nearly killed for it... And according to the courts Anissa was just there and dindu nuffin I guess.

@warbossgegguz679 Жыл бұрын
@@RedSpade37 It just really bothers me how so many "horror" and "true crime" youtubers and viewers paint this situation and similar cases like Vincent Weiguang Li where the they portray Morgan and other schizophrenics as "murderous timebombs!", "freaks!", and "constant dangers to society beyond rehabilitation!" when that's a gross misrepresentation of mental illness. People are happy to change the perception of mental health when it comes to anxiety or depression, but when it's something that makes them "too uncomfortable" we revert back to acting like children about it. A mentality that ironically typically LEADS to those kinds of situations. Because nobody wants to have themselves or their children labeled as "nuts". Watching how content creators cover the situation and the audiences reinforcing that sort of perspective always makes me really depressed. Note: I'm not schizophrenic, but I do have depression, epilepsy, dyslexia, and ADD, and my school gave my issues the same kind of treatment (ie I wasn't acting out because of issues, it was because I was a "troublemaker", etc.) so hearing that kind of stuff about Morgan's past kind of hits home for me. I'm by no means justifying what happened. If anything I'm saying I wish a girl didn't have to suffer such an incomparably traumatic and life threatening experience just for her issues to finally get addressed. The fact she tried to kill her best friend since childhood because she was detached from reality is beyond sad, and like most people who do similar things during a psychotic break, I'm sure she's not proud of it. But people like to make her out like she's Patrick Bateman or something.

But i was always seen as the weird kid, no doubt im sure some of my peers were suspicious about me, deapite me never having violent thoughts or urges towards anyone but myself. I was treated by school officials as a genuinely dangerous person at one point, and was suspended because of it. They even were calling for a psychological evaluation of me, my parents having to intervene so the school resource officer wouldn't search my stuff. Im still very deeply interested in horror media, and I've used it as an effective tool to cope with some childhood trauma and ongoing mental health issues, and as ive gotten older im more comfortable sharing this darker interest. I remember a lot of people expressing their concern that Morgan's friend was well aware of her diminished capacity for empathy, and that she should've been a better voice of reason; however I'm still leaning towards the idea that peer pressure played a significant part in the crime here, and that it's more than possible both girls stowed their fear and doubts about committing the heinous act because neither one of them wanted to seem like the scared one if that makes sense.

Parents need to check in on what their kids are looking at online. If your child is reading up onto something that isn't real, hearing voices and is distressed by things that aren't real. Take them to see someone and get professional help. Schizophrenia is a very scary mental illness and I heard many stories of how the persons delusions made them do terrible acts.

I've heard the first Slenderman story multiple times before, but I never knew that bit about the SkyDoesMinecraft mod showcase. I remember watching those - there were a few Creepypastas that I only first learned about through the video. There was one that specifically terrified me after that one, I think it was something like the Seed Eater or the Seed Man or something like that? Something to do with "Seed" in the name. Anyway, that just stuck out to me as crazy. I know the story already invokes to some that feeling of "something from my childhood being linked to something so horrific", but that detail made it all the more intimate and specific to me. The fact that Sky later on got into a whole trove of trouble on his own just added another layer to the "damn this just feels so surreal" moment I just had.

It took a bit, but I remembered watching a video about the "Amazon Review Killer" (the /NoSleep story) and the interrogation following his arrest. He actually bragged to the police about shooting the four people in the bike shop! That was its own form of internet horror, especially with his creepy Amazon reviews that hinted towards it being used to commit crimes.

A 7 year old girl told me that she had thoughts of jumping out a window from a video on KZbin. She said it was a hypnosis vid. Her dad didn't even understand why I was so upset about him thinking it wasn't a good idea to just give your child a KZbin babysitter. Dude has since lost custody of both his children so I can say there is some good from that story. This was only a year ago but has stuck with me knowing our children played together a few times. If you notice that your child is showing signs of mental illness (talking to themselves, hearing voices, seeing things that aren’t there, etc), get them evaluated by a psychologist and don’t allow them free reign online. If your child has been officially diagnosed with a mental illness, it’s even more important to limit their online access. The first case should be a lesson to parents with a child showing symptoms of mental illness: DO NOT IGNORE THE SYMPTOMS!!! The poor girl in this case killed her stepmother because her father kept ignoring her symptoms until it was too late and the girl had a mental breakdown which resulted in the death of the stepmother. Children under 18 should not be allowed to read creepypastas, imo.
