This was brilliant! You should be proud. I agree with all the interpretations, but for the actual point of the story, I believe that there's some kind of biological warfare virus. The government don't want to lose it and want to study it fully, so they've set up this little scenario where they send in one expendable professional to care for and examine the subject until the subject dies. By this point, the doctor has contracted and incubated the illness himself.

Eddie #1 was trying to communicate with the eddie to be (doctor) when he had the papers and tape recorder all over the floor . Eddie was fixated on the pen because he wanted to write what was going on. I guess we as humans assume that because people that are incapable of communicating at the level or as efficiently as we do are useless or not knowledgeble.

That ending was so messed up, as soon as i saw him cough up blood I already knew that he was the replacement Eddie. The message was another piece of solid evidence that the replacement was also another caretaker/researcher.What was he even there for?

For me, watching just..him yelling at Eddie, and how he shoved food into his mouth and down his throat knowing he couldnt eat. It made me cry. Because of the fact that I myself take care of my sister who is Disabled, while yes. She can feed herself. Shes nonverbal, and has a rough time with walking. I understand this short film and my experience are completely different in year time and universes. But it still reminds me of the fact that there are human beings with disabilities that..they struggle to eat their food, they struggle to talk and walk. And people.. treat them just like that. Then freak out just as the doctor did when he realized what he did. My worst nightmare. /I apologize if this is deep. But it actually terrified me/

No matter, it reminded me just in general of how many children, people, and people with disabilities can be treated when the caretaker is either frustrated, or, arent thankful that that being is still...alive! Ya know-? And honestly, I being a writer, and writing many of different stories in different Multiverses, I cant help but think of a plot but in many different ways! Seeing it from multiple views and such!! This short film is a truly amazing creation. And I cant thank you enough for directing it, and for replying to me! I'm overwhelmed with joy!

I agree. Watching the man shove food in his mouth and scream and rant made me cry. And when Eddie started choking on the food I felt like I was choking too, and I don't know why... perhaps it's because seeing another person in pain and anguish makes me nauseous, and that I feel distressed and disgusted when someone treats another person that way, or if it's the fact the everyone knows what was happening to this man was inhumane and cruel, yet nobody helped Eddie, even when the person watching the video camera while it was happening, they chose not to do anything, they just sat and watched.... letting him die a tear jerking and horrifying death that no human should have to endeavor in, especially alone with no family or friends to be there by his side. Instead it was a stranger who abused him and treated him like some animal who had no feelings or thoughts(Yes, animals have thoughts and feelings) and did not once consider how Eddie was feeling. It is heartbreaking.

classic caregiver burnout. no one should have to take care of a sick person totally by themselves. it's a gigantic job that breaks one's heart while frustrating to the point of wanting to hurt the person. the mixed emotions alone can kill a caregiver.

I think it's radiation sickness and it eventually affects each worker in turn, thereby replacing the previous Eddie. They are monitoring the affects it has on each worker and how long it take them to succumb to it and how long until their mind deteriorates completely

that actually makes sense, its radioactive area it takes place in and radiation stick around for a long time and in small dozes it can be dangerous for such as touching the pen and then touching the food youre eating thus leading leading to the radiation to get to the inside of your body causing the blood coughing

At first I thought maybe this film was about how some humans abuse their pets, but midway through, realized it is how some humans treat each other, more specifically those humans who, in the their mundane existence have lost touch of normal human connection. Awesome short. This video makes me wonder how many previous Eddies there were. Eddie used to be the scientist who was researching a previous Eddie. Long chain of scientist/Eddie pairs. Each one furthering the research just a little farther, and after "turning", the new Eddie tries so desperately to tell the next scientist some crucial piece of evidence, but just can't quite communicate well enough to do so. I also have to wonder what kind of briefing "they" give to the scientists before sending each one to the facility. I doubt each scientist knows they are entering a death trap. What does each think they are researching?

What was the affliction... that's the question! I was surmising it was some sort of Radioactive poisoning, but that's not transmittable, and he had been there for a while... so that's possible. Is it just a commentary about the Human condition, how, even though there is someone else there, the scientist isn't truly alone, but in a way, he is? So many unanswered questions! Very enigmatic!

Hemorrhagic virus which somehow maintains healthy and continuous cell replication, a chimera virus and some sort of gene editing protein maybe? But rupturing cells while somehow maintaining telomere integrity in some cells, thats not possible. So i think the only option is nanotechnology. The old tech could be left over, and a kind of psychological trick to think that the program isn't as advanced as it is. If they have cctv then they could have a remote activation tool. Put it in the food, and activate or deactivate as needed. Then you could test... breaking the human psyche? I dont know, but its fun. Thanks for getting my mind going. 😁

I used to work in a nursing home. I was not a nurse or PSW but I was around them, spoke to them. I fed some of the residents. It can be hard to not communicate. There is always a way, though, from what I have learned from school and work. This made me feel like I was back there trying to make good of what the person had left...in this show we're looking at a catatonic zombie instead; very interesting. I have many thoughts and emotions about this, mainly what if you didn't have enough staff or the right training; that can lead to the wrong actions. The ending made sense to me...the slow fall into insanity. I love how he tried to treat him like a human being near the end till he snapped. In the movie it was obviously something airborn or some government "game" . But the meaning and portrayal of character was amazing. I like zombie films...this was more of a showing of reality in the raw and ugly format. Truly a masterpiece in its own way.

I get it. This is kind of experiment about radioactive or disease or virus. But the time new doctor come in, he is infected at the same time. The new doctor have a limited time to do the research (to find a cure, maybe?) But, the time is never enough, the "Eddie" time is short coz of the virus (or whatever it is) and also the doctor. The new doctor become the new "Eddie". And so on.... and so on...

Brilliant story! Beautiful photography showing the harrowing isolation that ( I can only imagine) people with infectious diseases had to go thru, like the Ebola victims. Great nuances and details give a rich multilayered dimension to the story even with a minimum amount of narrative, although the acting might be comedic at times to be truly conveying the horror and terror of the situation.
