Lilmisscostumedrama Honestly it almost works in way it could be in the same universe. Cows are used for lots of different products, just as the humans are here. The first shows a farm of women that’s mainly a dairy farm and now there’s the farms that sell the meat. Maybe the things that caused the to start raising humans like cows for food made them realize that they could use these humans for other things and that’s why they started using them for other products like skin creams.

No, the two films have entirely different filmmakers, scripts, and crews. Despite the same title and similar themes, neither were made aware of the other's project. We just loved both films and wanted to give each a platform where viewers can check them out and discuss them.

If I were a teacher, i would use so many of the "ALTER" Movies in my classroom at school, to discuss the material with my students. So many themes, so many moral and ethical questions, so many interpretations and views, I would enjoy discussing these films from a psychological point of view. I would theorize that maybe this is at least a couple hundred years in the future. Maybe when all the original animals died out, they started out going vegan. Then a couple people might have tried cannibalism due to their insatiable desire for meat. It might have been frowned upon and stigmatized for the first couple of decades, but slowly, more and more people got on board as they realized there was no other meat alternative and they REALLY wanted meat. Eventually, it became the new norm (Or at least less stigmatized), to the point where we are in this story, where some people even have their own people farms.

I think theire just one strange family who live in the middle of nowhere in the twenties and theire just overfeeding other humans and eating them. The other humans cant speak fully normal so I guess this goes on over generations and also the family is doing that since many generations because theire telling the kids that its completely normal to eat those ,,cows,,. Though the movie was disturbing, I felt happy that the family came to know what is pain. Such a horrible twist. Very very unexpected storyline. Sheesh, sorry but I gotta agree with u there-u seem a little slow! This is kinda like reverse anthropomorphism, the two escapees are representative of animals in the meat industry. The young boy was struggling to come to terms with slaughtering and eating them as he felt they had feelings, a level of intellect and could interact with him whereby they even knew his name. This is obviously set in some distopian future where the farming industry has been turned on its head as animals have been all wiped out. The idea is to show people the meat industry in a new light as the family are farmers and the other two are representative of cows. It shows us how we as a society see eating meat as normal and don't really consider what happens to get an animal from the fields to fork. Most people don't dwell on the immorality of ending a life to enjoy your dinner better, mainly because it's not us being eaten. We tend to justify meat eating because we consume animals less intelligent than ourselves and therefore it's ok. This film put a 'human face'(quite literally) on the animals in the meat industry and forces us to really think about what those animals go through and whether we can justify it ethically. People in the comments are referring to this as a short horror movie and that's exactly the idea. If we really were holding captive, killing and eating humans it would have the makings of a terrifying, gruesome horror flick but because it's animals,not us, going through this we just see this as a societal norm.... @211587 cummins what are you on about? So Ur saying the women escaped the British 'dairy' farm, somehow raised enough money to get two plane tickets and flew to the states. But as they are the most unlucky ppl ever when they get to America they run into a family of human meat farmers and are captured again to be slaughtered for food.(talk about bad luck!) fortunately being experienced in great escapes after the dairy farm they do manage to escape again but not before one of the women turns into a man and the other one puts on weight and seems to have lost all but one of her braincells along with the ability to talk. as they have both dumbed down a lot instead of escaping and getting out of there they choose to have an explore of the house of the ppl who are all but ready to kill and cook them. Big fight ensues where the woman who is still a woman gets killed and then the woman who is now a man is killed by the farmers young son. And that's the end of that. Yep, I agree with you this is definitely the sequel to the first 'herd'because the story line flows so well, especially that when they go from the UK to USA they also seem to fly on a time travelling plane as the meat farm seems to b a good few decades earlier in time than the dairy farm-just another strike of brilliance that adds to this well out together storyline.. Although this was well-made, I don't see what's supposed to be deep about the story. On the contrary, the appearance of depth stems from simplifying the actual situation to the point of making it into a moral caricature on which taking sides is easy. But when you add back in the nuance, the analogy of keeping humans to keeping animals fails miserably.

Another excellent ethical message in a surprising and entertaining way. I haven't eaten a hamburger in 29 years since I took a nutrition class in college, but it was a decision based on health issues as well as morality. Why does everyone give farmers hate, like yes I get it. The cows and live stock are treated badly. But the only reason they do that is to mass produce meat and for for a population that is growing faster and faster everyday. I'm not saying that what some farms are doing isn't wrong, it is. I'm saying its the only thing they seemingly can do for a population that demands for the mass production of for to feed its ever growing numbers.
