The Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie. I can watch it every day. It never gets old. When I was young Right after Thanksgiving we knew that the Wizard of Oz was going to be on TV. It's part of my childhood memories. Also my kids and grandkids. Billie Burke lived in Hastings on the Hudson NY. Her estate used to be were the teenagers huge out. Every one knew about the Burke Estate. Sad to say the town knocked it down. And along the Hudson river her husband had a beautiful mansion too. It's still there, with other little homes The area where the mansion is looks like something magical. It's hard to explain, you'd have to see it yourself.

Margaret Hamilton was burned early on in, if I remember correctly, as she disappeared in fire and smoke: a second-degree burn on her face and a third-degree burn on her hand during a second take of her fiery exit from Munchkinland .

Casting Judy Garland instead of Shirley Temple for the role of Dorothy and casting in general was what the film makers got right, even if they did damn near kill everyone.
