What I always found very interesting was that at the beginning (late 19aughts though the 20s) there seemed to be a a more inclusive feel to people's differences. I feel like Britneys ordeal wasn’t much different from what LB Mayer, his ‘people’ and her mother did to Judy. They were both very young when they were pushed into ‘the business’ by their parents. They were both sexualized as teens. They were both drugged. They were both forced to work long hours. They were both body shamed and forced into or out of relationships. They were both intimidated and threatened to do shows/jobs they didn’t want to do. They both suffered consequences when and if they didn’t obey. In some ways it was worse for Judy, in some ways worse for Britney.
@susanbrady16712 жыл бұрын
I mentioned in an above comment that my grandmother worked as an attorney for MGM. She was a new female lawyer in the 1930's, nobody would hire her. MGM took her on. She said LB Mayer was a total pig, he wouldn't even allow her in his office when he had contract questions. She had to stand in the assistants office and he would relay questions and answers through the assistant. The male attorneys were allowed in his office. The upside of that experience is that she got hired on with the CA Attorney General's office, became the chief deputy attorney general, and was the first woman sworn in as CA Attorney General when the real one was out of commission for a bit. Excuse me while I am just here crying because of the life Rita Hayworth had. That orson wells reply was like a stake through the heart. I cannot imagine how she ever would have moved past that emotionally. I loved old time movies as a kid. When I was a preteen I wanted to be Doris Day. I even wrote her a fan letter at the time telling her how brilliant she was. Later I learnt that she too had such a sad life in search of love but only finding terrible men who wanted to own / use her.

Jayne Mansfield was in a car accident, she was wearing a wig and it came off through the force of the crash. She wasn't decapitated! There was a man who saw her wig come off and mistook it for something else. If she had been decapitated there would have been tons of blood all over the place!!! I guess the man didn't know that though. And her youngest boy was in the car with her, so if she had been decapitated he would have been covered in blood. Which he wasn't.
