@@susandolan9543 or the Horrible Horse-eating Hollersuarus. Got the term from an old article about why horses spook. The HHH can take any appearance or be invisible. As he unbuckled the bridle I thought "He'll do it like Mom taught. Don't let the bit clonk her teeth." Of course, because he loves and respects his animals. Little things like warming the bit in winter and not hurting teeth really matter to horses. Treat them right and you get a sweet friend. Treat them bad, better not turn your back.

@Britannia I think it is. Because not just does the horse cost a lot, you have to get a stable and have land for it to live on to begin with. Plus people to tend to it all year round. Plus all the food it eats all the time. A supercar you can still just park in the garage and pay nothing while you're not using it (except for insurance, which would still apply for the horse in some way probably).

According to an eyewitness, during the battle of Friedland (1807) a regiment of carabineers of the French army came out of the woods in full view of a Russian battery. Colonel Blancards response was to stand ground and wait for the order to attack. As cannonballs smashed into their ranks, he dropped his reins, crossed his arms and sat like a statue on his horse until the order finally came. Imagine the amount of training the horse had to go through for it to stand calm in that kind of situation!
@JaniceVampire5 жыл бұрын
I don't think that would still be necessary after this. As he explained, he already kept the horse moving to sort feed that flight-response and get rid of the adrenaline for a bit. After she calmed down a bit and did well, he took the "pressure" off by taking her out of the situation. Taking away the pressure when a horse did well is one of the best rewards you can give a horse. (and of course lots of scratching/patting/treats.. :) )

When I ride, it's on a friend's horses which are used to gunfire (Napoleonic cavalry). The only time ever one of the two best-trained horses jumped a little in irritation was when I gave a mad-hatter-ish giggle that seemingly topped gunfire, field birds' flapping wings, and cannons. It's impressive to what degree you can train a horse if you put enough effort and friendship into it!

@@johnpotter4750 One of many things directors need to know, horses will react honestly ONCE to any surprises, so better have the cameras rolling and ready. While filming 'Making of the Mob' in rehearsal the horse I was riding (not my own) gave a great reaction to a fight that spilled onto the street in front of us. If the director had only told me what they were going to do I would have told them to film it raw, and they would have gotten an awesome action/reaction shot. Sadly after that each time we came up the street my trusty mount, expecting the action, never reacted realistically to the scene. My fault for not quizzing them beforehand. Lesson learned.
