Yeah, Horse Girl needed to see a therapist before she tried DnD. There is a lot to unbag there and I wouldn't even know where to start. I was going to fall under the DM for not putting up much more of a fight until the part where they were actually trying to get HG to get help. Hopefully she did take the hint of doing it and actually got some help. I feel if she got the help she needed, she would be a much better person

@@lootgoblinmarketplace its not just that it's not enough. There is a difference between escapism and using dnd as a therapy. By doing that the latter they force the others to have to act like therapists - something they are most likely not trained to be, nor they want to be. Obviously everyone have issues, but forcing others to deal with their problems turns the other players' downtime into a stressful, tiring thing.

The fact that she absolutely just tore a hole through everything she was apart of. I dont think she liked the single guy of the group as a fact of actual likeness but he is a guy and she wanted the guys to fawn over her. In her mind it was whenever she met a guy NPC or character it would be: "oh no this poor girl who has gone through such a hard life, I'll protect her!". However In ASOIAF most people have a harsh backstory so no one is going to fawn over just another person with a horrible past.
@tarvoc746 Жыл бұрын
If you ask me, Horse Girl is honestly more in line with ASoIaF as a setting than any of the other characters. Her character is essentially an exaggerated amalgam of three different canon Stark girls - Sansa, Arya, and Lyanna. Their version of Westeros is altogether really weird in my opinion. There are gender-equal Northern noble houses (no, there most definitely are not), there are bastards with happy backgrounds and home lives (if you know anything about the legal standing of bastards in Westeros, you'd understand why that cannot be a thing), characters don't have a kill-on-sight policy with regards to bandits and highwaymen (I _guess_ I could see this kind of soft-heartedness for a Red Priest, _maybe,_ but they'd still be an absolute oddity), there is such a thing as a "medieval fantasy rehab" for some reason (what do you think this is, Discworld??)... it's okay to want to play more idealistic characters and stories that are "good" by modern standards, but then why did you pick ASoIaF as a setting?? Also, some things in this story really smell like GM favoritism... and then GM digs up Horse Girl's most likely private writing, presumably without her consent. I am kind of curious as to what that story looks like from the other side.

I can’t help but question how whenever everyone else is doing something that would be weird or instigate in-game conflict in this story, it’s considered “good for the rp” that they like, but whenever horsegirl does anything, it’s presented as the player being too stupid to be consistent or make the “correct” decision. What if horsegirl intentionally wanted to play a character who seems innocent, but gets taken over by a bloody fury in combat? Why does only her character choices get questioned from the angle of her home life, and not the others?

She reminds me of this girl I was friends with for a long time. When she wasnt pulling her shenanigans, she was pretty good. But she got worse with time. Trying to one up women, passively flirting with my boyfriends or people I had a budding relationship with, dating them after me but looking down on all other men, aggressive to other women. The ONE D&D session I had with her was hosted by my ex at the time (who I was still great friends with) and she of course, started dating him. She didnt like any other player having attention so she purposesfully announced her character was going to leave. (She did this in real life often too, but not in this game session.) When the rest of us didnt care, she forced the DM to run the game with just her for an hour or more. The rest of us just ended having fun in the town and going on raids we ran ourselves and rolled and RPed for. She wasnt happy that when her character returned none of us literally cared. She never played again.

As someone with experience riding horses I think the reason the horny horse girl is a thing is because of the way english saddles are designed. On the saddle there is a hump infront of the ridders crotch known as the pommel when you ride a horse at higher speed with an english saddle you need to use your legs to raise and lower yourself with the rhythm of the horses steps. This results in your crotch rubbing against the pommel of the saddle stimulating female riders and if a female rider has been riding since a young age they could subconsciously associate sexual stimulation with riding horses.

Coming back to this story after a while. I started to develop a different outlook on how things in this story turned out. In short, I have very mixed feelings about it, but I'll explain. Yes, Horse Girl was very annoying and inappropriate with how she chose to play her character. I can understand why everyone else started to feel uncomfortable around her. HOWEVER, I strongly feel like nobody is innocent in this story. For one, with the bit with OP's character having a "milk of the poppy" addiction, all while Horse Girl got slammed for her character's drinking problem...that just reeks of double standards. Then there's the bit with the bard info broker NPC. It really felt like the DM intentionally had this character do something bad to Horse Girl's character just to upset her for petty reasons. I also understand why Horse Girl started to feel jealous with how her character got treated like a second class citizen, while everyone else in the party just kissed Padme's ass and courted her around, like she's the second coming of Christ or some shit. Theres's some other glaring issues in this story, but the bottom line is that everyone in this group is toxic. Horse Girl leaving the campaign was for the best, and I really hope she gets the mental help she needs. For all we know (especially with the r*pe dagger and fanfiction bit), she could have been a victim to some very horrible things that happened in her home life. As for everyone else, fuck them, especially OP, DM, and Padme Christ. If this was an AITA post on Reddit, it would certainly be a case of "everyone sucks".
@Shannon4710Ай бұрын
Did you not listen when you went through it this time? She is shown throughout this story to ignore the worldbuilding and plot that the DM has set up. She was jealous that someone else had something she didn't so she essentially forces the DM into making a specific man she wants to appear for her to hook up with and then starts acting like that man is her characters boyfriend while completely ignoring how the DM designed the character. OPs character was in recovery while she started playing hers out to such a large degree that other players suffered. Her ignoring other players and making them uncomfortable or otherwise ruining their experience is consistent through this entire story despite apparently at least the DM had talked with her about it "this whole time". The group even ended up writing her a letter to express their concerns which she ignored. You can notice that they started out treating her character well and trying to take care of her but as the story continues they start disliking her. The story doesn't get into much detail but Padme seems to have the opposite development where the character is not open to the group at first but eventually has character development that makes her likable.

I don't know, maybe it's because I'm more of a casual where it comes to TTRPGs, but she doesn't really come off as some lunatic to me. Definitely obnoxious, but the OP made it seem like she was nuking everything she touched, and then just described weird and eccentric character choices. Honestly, it comes off as bonding over a common enemy. As in, they're still together because they decided they all don't like this person. "She was ignoring my character." Is... your character entitled to her time? "She has a weird quasi-sexual obsession with horses." I guess? Freaks exist in all worlds, _especially_ in ASOIAF. With all of the media I've consumed, all the games I've played, all the books I've read, this seems pretty tame, honestly. It's definitely inconsiderate of her to steer these scenarios and characters in a way that goes against what everyone else apparently wants, but it seems to turn into, "you need to roleplay the way we want you to," which kind of feels against the spirit of it to me, at least based on the tables I've played at.

@evilskills3 ай бұрын
the difference is that the OP doesn't openly do drugs in front of the party because he knows that it's shameful but he still wants there to be an effect of it, horse girl is actively drinking huge amounts of alcohol in front of everyone to the point where they're actually worrying for her then she's repeatedly doing this. It would be way different if OP was acting like a crackhead but he doesn't so it's not as big of a double standard as you think.

Because people can be traumatized by different things, mostly. But also because Horse Girl was not only seemingly doing this to spite others, and so being pretty public about it, she was apparently doing that sort of thing irl. OP was simply being discreet with the whole thing and playing his character the way that character was written. Horse Girl was not doing any of those things, and was being a bit of a donkey about it, too, from what I can tell.

Possibly do to the writing case possibly has had bad experience with other girls in the past and tried hard to make friends with them like she did in the game but lead to basically what went down in game from there. To even a sad backstory being a case in there mind as a way to make a actual connection and feeling like "ah there just like me I can get along with them" to even hoping they have one despite not, to cling onto them in some way since not sure how to speak to others without possibly. This is simply my own interpretation of things said and easily could be wrong but for sure in the case she needed some therapy to talk with something's no doubt.

Man I use to be in a MMO guild with someone Horse Girl reminds me of for some reason, we'll call them "Moon Moon". Same very naive type of role player who didn't "get it" and was very much living in her own mental fantasy about her character and was always making "enhancements". Basically acted like a bad anime protagonist for the most part, but then started to get pretty hard into femdom and became weirdly misanthropic, started just picking fights with the male characters in our group. She'd say and do the most bizarre things sometimes, but to be clear, she wasn't "hated" OOC, or even IC for the most part, it was just a case of "gosh I wish you'd just do BETTER and be less confusing". We were a pretty relaxed group with low standards for the most part, there were a few edgelords, but it wasn't a particularly edgy guild. Societally though, we were in a fascist state and she had a tendency to go rogue on outings, so it ended with "Okay, we're going to have to actually punish your character this time, this behavior has gone too far" and her just gquitting rather than accepting consequences for her character's actions. 😅 I think by that time she realized her character growth had plateaued because without some appropriate increase in character maturity or at least a change in behavior, the GMs and senior players simply weren't going to let her progress. It's a little sad, but as far as I know, she ended up in a lesbian ERP guild and is completely happy.

This is such a dumb premise. "A house that treats women right" as if you don't live in the middle ages where everyone is dying and it's not actually a glorious patriarchy like you think it is

I don’t believe that group existed. Or rather I don’t believe there were three women in one group. They were probably speed runner type of ‘women’ especially given the trigger warning crap.

Ok I tried looking this up because I have never played DND before but why do I get the feeling that the word "grape" was used in a bad way? With how he had replaced the word with a sound makes me think it's a bad thing in the terms of DND
@cb150322 күн бұрын
Lol its not a mysterious bad thing for dnd. Because of online censorship grape is used as a way to say, well, just drop the g.

@cb1503 ok that makes more sense. I was really confused there for awhile... Thank you!

I don't understand what "worg" is supposed to mean. Urban dictionary doesn't give anything and DnD only talks about the evil wolf worg.

I think it means "to merge" in this context. I was looking it up too because I was confused.

Warging, and I've only seen GoT so I may get the details wrong, but in this context they basically "possess" an animal.

"That guy" is just the term for it. 🤷♀I think "that girl" has a whole other set of connotations.

TTRPG's are historically male dominated, even now they are still majority male. so the term for a problem player is male due to many examples of male players doing shitty things. its the same reason the nightmare customer is referred to as a karen, because while there are men who cause issues the stereotype was built from negative experiences with mostly women

I understand how there’s a natural overlap with people who like anime and people who like DnD…but it really is crazy just how many people rp their characters as cringey anime edgelords, literally taking lines verbatim from anime. It’s not only incredibly embarrassing but also just creatively bankrupt. Oh look, another chaotic neutral rogue who’s literally just Sasuke, wow, I’ve never seen that one before. Bravo.

My fuzzy rodent in Christ, if I had a buck for every Drizzt knock off I've seen in my long years of rolling dice at tables, I'd be able to buy some gold plated dice and a very nice gaming table at the very least. Nerds have always been bringing their favorite media into TTRPGs for as long as TTRPGs have existed. Anime is just a new category of media and pile of tropes to add to the mix.
