What a master of your dark arts you are Derren, wonderful stuff. The "random" envelope choice was a bit obvious - in a video that we can rewind anyway - but the choosing of the photos is brilliant. I assume that was a 'force' based on the structure and layout of the suspended photos but I could be way off. It could just be actual magic so far as I know.

In previous encounters, Derren has infiltrated subconscious cues to the subjects beforehand. Could it be that the faces they chose were shown to them previously, like in a magazine, billboard and/or other means? Working from there planting the numbers is subterfuge, he knew that already.

The 1 in 24 I can understand people not getting so I won't reveal that. But in regards to the rest, since he relied on his skills to have them pick a name with he same initials (admittedly I don't know how but wouldn't say if I did), the only valid way to calculate the odds after the first 500, 499. 498. 497, would be in relation to other cards with the same initials but with different numbers on them. But none of those cards existed. If they did, it could have gone wrong.

"Skip this if you don't want a discussion on how it is done". I guess my points for discussion: The amazing part of this is the force for the paticipants to pick the pictures that they did. The rest is clever but not quite as impressive and is effectively set up as soon as the pictures are forced. Firstly the red envelope; this would be very impressive if a particpant was asked to remove it and display its contents, yet Derren removes it and then does what seems like killing time for the purposes of altering the contents of the envelope, holding it in quite a strange way and with a few camera cuts. It also seems less impressive as, when the numbers on the back of the pictures are revealed at the end, it is not asked for in that order (1342) but in numerical order suggesting that the order was not quite as predictable. The next point is that Derren, in the envelope reveal, asked "Who mixed the envelopes? You mixed the envelopes, you handed them out, you each took one...". This is distorting their memory of what happened. Yes, she mixed the envelopes, but she handed them back to Derren who then distributed them. I would assume that the envelopes are marked so that Derren knows exactly who to give them back to and the rest is, as I said set up for the end. I just can't see of any way that he could force that choice unless there was something else that happened that we were not privy to including other potential rules of how to pick. One intersting point is the numbers on the back of a lot of them are 5, 6, 7 and even longer-digit numbers, and for the most part, separated by spaces, yet the ones chosen were 3/4 digit numbers. I just can't see of any other way to force that unless something else I'm over-looking happened.

He said it was very important to focus on not choosing based on attractiveness or their names which makes them focus on those two aspects subconsciously influencing their decisions.

He did something similar I’m sure where he showed the “random” face to the person without them realising in the days and weeks leading up to the show. Making them gravitate to that person for some reason when it comes time to choose. This has nothing to do with picking horses but I still love his shows.

Interesting.. Also, most people are drawn to objects that line up with their eye level. If he knew the height of his participants before hand. He could change the location of the polaroids to tailor their heights (one is shorter compared to the other). Reason why most known brands can afford to pay a premium to have their product at the middle of the shelves in a super market.

OK. There are a few holes in this. There are 500 photo's, but I suspect they're not all different, and neither are the numbers on the back. Each of the 4 participants has been conditioned over a few weeks to select the photo of choice, they've all been exposed to the image many times - they just don't realise it AND there's also a number on the front of the photo for some unexplained reason and this also holds significance to each of the 4 participants. We all lock-on to numbers that mean something to us, a ping of recognition happens when we hear certain numbers. The bottom photo's on every string can also be discounted as they're not easy to read and there are easier selections. Standing in a specific order was neat, but not impossible (obviously) and there was some type of conditioning to this as well. Once you have forced the participants to select the right photo and stand in the right order, the rest falls immediately into place. It's a slick trick but what it's got to do with horse racing I have no idea.

is it related to the brain unconciously driving us to pick what is more similar to our name or our persona or our characteristics? and all the math being just for show? I will meet you one day sir and I will ask you questions xD...

I can remember actually watching this..... now before I start, I think I'm reasonably smart, I figured out every single part of the show, eg the coin tossing, the winning "lucky"" punter, and even the part where he seemingly changed his mind "picking" the winner.......... but this part still to this day I can't figure out. Coin tossing, eventually you will get 10 in a row, even if it takes hours to do it Picking the lucky winner, is all about having a big enough pool of players to eliminate multiples at a time, until you get to 1 Winning ticket, sleight of hand giving the actual "winning" ticket, bet all the horses in the race and you are guaranteed to get a winner............ how much did he earn from this show, she bet £4k, there were 5 runners so he bet £4k on each of them, gave her a winning ticket and lost £20k out of millions he made when the show was broadcast

Whilst I agree that Darren is brilliant at what he does, I still challenge him to actually go to any race meeting and predict all the winners. In other words with all the variables of the sport, ie trainers running thier horses down the field to get a decent handicap mark for a future target and non trying jockeys it still is impossible!!

Hey. Hopefully this makes it to 'Derren Brown' --- Metal not 'mental' records. Regarding 'the metal vinyl recordings of our absolute physiology natural arrival documents'; therapy for 'those, who would prefer different truths documented'. (animal welfare and how 'mentality of being a reptile' makes more sense but it is 'easier to deny that we are lied to... and told we are primitive and divided as species') The idea of 'mental or 'metal' is about the word 'wonk'. It means 'work'. It was an ICC joke language game that made 'banx' because 'banc' wasn't 'bank'... thus, conker /conquer means work. 'Maybe Vladimir Putin didn't 'conquer' all across europe and spain but 'worked'.' but the 'work' was spelled 'con'qu'ered'; the context was 'k' is 'kombat' but 'c' is 'combat'; so, 'real combat is with a 'c' and fake combat is with a 'k' (kombat)'; like differencing 'role-playing and dramatized fighting' from 'real disturbances'.'

a ‘blank certificate of deposit’ and how much it ‘really costs’.’ --- ‘the museum artifact' cost of the 'blank certificate of deposit for the 'metal vinyl recordings of 'humanity' and construction and physiology'; the credit default swap of quadrillions of dollars or more (From empires) could be 'about how much a 'single copy of a blank cd' truly costs'; something like 'a few cents' compared to the 'cost of the cds being used currently'.' like 'every cd is forced to have a copy of the 'pure signal-recording of the metal vinyl record put into mp3 format'.' 'gift from the 'emporers' who made it; and a 'costly thing for the 'emporers' who didn't chose to use their 'own' blank cds'.'.' --- like 'each one of the blank cds costs as much as the full credit default swap of 'hundreds of quadrillions or more'.' --- because 'that is how much the persons who 'made it' are charging per 'blank-certificate of deposit'
