🐴 Welcome to this epic collaboration with the @reigarw channel, where we've made a couple of horsepower videos.
For consistency of the engine's power, vehicle size may not be to scale.
👉Don't miss the Reigarw Comparisons version: • Cars Horsepower Compar...
⚠️Kindly note the mistake at F35, the F35 can reach Mach 1.6, not Mach 6. The Saturn V's Horsepower is 119,000 MW instead of 11,900 MW. Our apologies.

if he compared torque the large cargo ships would be pretty high on the list, a typical 6 cylinder slow speed Sulzer is making about 21000 hp at 90 rpm, so that's around 1.24 million ibs-ft torque at the flywheel, pretty nuts stuff. the ship I work on is a 4 stroke medium speed, 5800hp at 600 rpm with a 4:1 reduction box on the propeller shaft, so that's about 43,800 ibs-ft at the flywheel, so roughly 175,000 at the prop

It literally has more horsepower than there are horses in the entire world. Prior to the steam engine, horses were the most powerful thing in human possession. Horses literally caused empires to rise and fall. Watt even based Horsepower on what a cart horse could haul so people could easily understand what a steam engine was capable of. His numbers aren't exact, but it's still absolutely staggering that one machine has that much more power, basically on an astronomic level, than the combined power of the most powerful thing in human history for around 6,000 years.

@ravenpaw3383
@ravenpaw3383 3 жыл бұрын
Mach 6 is faster than the SR-71 could reach. The official speed of the SR-71 is about mach 3 and many estimates say it could reach around mach 3.5. The X-15 which is the fastest manned aircraft was able to reach Mach 6.7. @@BananenBoerBob Only car-sized engines capable of that power are dragster engines that need an overhaul after each run. Or 80s formula 1 turbo engines that lasted about one race each when fully boosted for somewhat comparable specific power. Sure, it's possible to boost it high enough to get that kind of power, but engine lifetime will be impractically short. One suspects that the absurd power figures are there mostly to develop public interest, and in practice the project will disappoint.

I've never heard of buses with two stroke Diesels.

It's not common in Europe but the Detroit series of two-stroke diesels were extremely common in US buses, trucks and agricultural vehicles and are still found around today, although emissions regulations have killed most of them off. They were clever in that two or three cylinder base units could be joined at the crankshaft to make larger 6, 8 or 12 cylinder engines cheaply, and super or turbocharged, or both. They sound amazing.

@@chrisburn7178 I don't know much about heavy vehicles in the US but I was always under the impression those two stroke DD engines were used for high performance applications, not your typical bus.

@@BigUriel In the 70's they put Detroit's into everything. They are still made today for the military. They were without question one of the coolest designs of diesels ever. Back when GM was great. They went from inline 4 all the way up to V24 .

I am sure I was not the only one fully anticipating an actual race between all these behemoths. I know it would be a hassle to incorporate all the different acceleration profiles, but my gosh, what a spectacle would that be he! Please.
