Drove my 17 Z06 on a trip via interstate and got on it quite a bit during the trip, on first leg used economy mode and got 26 miles to the gallon, on the way back got on it alot and used touring mode and got 25.5 mpg. That was my first road trip and my first Vette, I was pleasantly surprised. The sticker rates highway mileage at 23 mpg. I think my insurance is around 750 yr for the car and I am in my late 50's. Tires are a biggy, priced a set already- $1800 for a set out the door and that was for all season tires.

The Z06 is made to be driven "like this" shown at 1:54. Some good points, but the tires in my mind are going to be the biggest culture shock to a new owner. Gas and insurance are slight increases but paid over time. Tires will set you back.

@Wrigy36 жыл бұрын
Im also in the market for a C6 Zr1 or a c7 Z06, but after some research... parts for a ZR1 are actually quite a bit more costly. Mostly due to the amount of ZR1's made, and a shockingly large amount of parts for the car are specially made to the model... which is the reason for the increase of cost. The Carbon Ceramics on a ZR1 are also more than a C7, because they are the exact same rotors on the Ferrari Enzo. (Crazy eh?) Should you really be afraid of the pricey breaks on the C7 C07 package, you can always go with the steel break option... which the zr1 doesnt have the option of. Just a bit of info that i came across while trying to decide between the two. Best of luck!

Cost is 93 octane, all the oil changes after the first one every 7,500 miles. Use the cruse in town buy hitting resume after you move from a stop! And don’t by one of those dumb Catch Cans because all the C8 engineers will tell you don’t need one! Guardian rule for a C8 don’t break it and you don’t have to buy it. 10 Qtr ?

You forgot to follow thru with the cost of transmission fluid and frequency you change it. That could also vary depending on what type of transmission you have manual or auto. Could you let us know. I just bought a ZO6 in August. This will be my first full summer with it. Can’t wait to get it out from under the car cover. By the way you might want to have mentioned it might be cheaper to buy the mantainence plan at the dealer when you buy it.
@HorsePowerObsessed5 жыл бұрын
If you have any mechanic ability it is NEVER cheaper to pay the dealership for anything. I try to do all my maintenance myself and it is a lot cheaper that way. I have the manual transmission and I probably will change the fluid this summer at some point. It's pretty cheap for the manual and isn't very hard. I've already changed the rear differential fluid on the car and the process is VERY similar to doing the transmission. Did you buy an auto or stick?
@stevencarusone87785 жыл бұрын
HorsePower Obsessed I bought the auto with manual modes. The paddle shifters on the steering wheel. I guess you can call it a hybrid transmission. I like it.
@HorsePowerObsessed5 жыл бұрын
Yeah You really can't go wrong with either option. The autos are a little tougher to change the fluid in though. That usually require some sort of flushing machine.
@stevencarusone87785 жыл бұрын
HorsePower Obsessed I ended up buying the maintenance plan. Everything covered though. Even if a bird takes a crap on the car and there’s paint discoloring it’s covered. If you park too close to the curb and you dent up a rim they replace it. Those rims are outrageous in price as you probably know. For me the plan was worth it.

Crazy my Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires that are on my 17 SS 1LE and I've got 23k miles on them and still not bald. How hard are you people driving your cars?
@HorsePowerObsessed5 жыл бұрын
I don't really drive it that hard... Usually. I actually had a 14 Camaro ZL1 before this and the Goodyear supercar 2 tires were bald by 11k. 🤷♂️

Wait, only 10,000 miles on a new set of tires? I had a 2006 manual Z51 and I got 40,000 or more on my Goodyears.... $2,000 a year on tires is ridiculous. Your thoughts guys?????
@HorsePowerObsessed6 жыл бұрын
I agree it's ridiculous but it's the price we pay for performance 😐
@superflyallday31176 жыл бұрын
A 06 Z51 is not even close to a newer Z06. Also they put the soft race tires on the C7 Z06 from the factory and the sport cup tires are way better than any Goodyear tire. The only bad thing is when it gets below 45-50 degrees there is no traction on the road at all unless it's newly paved. They break loose doing 60-70 mph when you step on the gas but when it's summer time and 70's and above the tires stick to the road like glue. Just wish there was a tire that would hook up still when temp drops a bit and would handle 20k miles or so. All well good luck to you and if anybody knows if a better all around tire for the C7 ZO6 please post. Thanks!

Question is how long are those ceramic rotors and pads supposed to last? I thought i had read where they last longer than typical brakes.
@HorsePowerObsessed6 жыл бұрын
From what I've read they will last the life of the car. Odds are good I'll never have to replace them.
@traind5 жыл бұрын
Guys who track this car aggressively often switch to non ceramic brake rotors because of cost to replace ceramics. They will not last forever if tracking it hard but may last for many years on the street
