This is going to be a great series. I’m always look for inspiration for smaller garden spaces. So many garden channels have such huge spaces that it’s hard to get a visual fora smaller bed. This helps so much! Is that front bricked area for parking? Just wondering how it’s used.

Great choices Jim. Love Oakland holly but maybe too much maintenance for that spot. Did you consider Dragon Lady or possibly osmanthus goshiki? Not a big juniper fan so that space would have gone to deutzia yuku cherry blossom, Aronia low scape mound, little missy boxwood or variegated liriope Overall a quality landscape that allows for growth, seasonal interest, and color. Nice!!!!😎
@janetn19253 жыл бұрын
Great video. I do have to say though that if that Hydrangea is anything like my Limelight it will be covered in pollinators. I don't think it's an issue though since it is so far from the door. You did make me think about my choice to put Coneflowers, Butterfly Bush, 3 Agastache , Bee Balm and Salvia all around my deck. Lol This is their first year but I hope I haven't made a mistake. Well see I guess. Lol The deck is raised above the ground a bit so maybe it won't be an issue.
@JimPutnam3 жыл бұрын
It is interesting that you have a lot of bees on limelight. It typically has mostly sterile flowers. Older paniculatas like tardiva and pee gee are fantastic for attracting pollinators.

Question about the mulch build-up…. Should you remove mulch and relocate to another area of your property when it gets build-up like that in some cases? I just started using bark mulch, instead of pine needles this year.

If you will just put down a few inches occasionally it won't happen. I think someone else didn't have enough topsoil so they put a foot of mulch

@joansmith34923 жыл бұрын
Are Encor azaleas going to be the next knockout rose?
@JimPutnam3 жыл бұрын
No, it's unlikely. They are each unique plants that have lots of variety in them. Every double red knockout rose is from the same parent plant. We cloned it millions of times and it is possible that is what weakened it.
