I just got one for Mother’s Day! We are putting it in the ground tomorrow, do you have any tips on digging the hole and adding the mulch? How big of a circumstance should we provide with the mulch? How often should we water at first? Should we build the mulch up on a mound sort of?

Thanks for the info, I just bought 10 of these that were on clearance at Walmart for $6.00 each. I bought a house with a big lot that has absolutely no trees so I hope these add a little appeal

I planted a red maple in my garden in the city of Campo Grande in Brazil where the planting zone here is equivalent between zone 9 and 10 of the USA. Now it's winter and the tree is completely without leaves, 15 ft tall. In May (autumn) it turned orange, not so red. Here the winters are dry and a bit cold, and rainy summers. Do you think my maple will grow right here?

Thank you for sharing. Very helpful. May I ask how October Glory turns colours? Does it go immediately from green to red? Or does it turn colours in stages from green to yellow to orange to red? I’m looking for a maple that offers orange and red and with good colour variation, not sure if October Glory is the one, or if you could recommend any other species. I enjoy watching your channel. I’ve learned a lot from your sharing. Thanks again!

I have 3 red maples in front yard space is not a problem but the tree roots in my lawn are and I don't thing they look good . The trees are 21 years old now and about 40 feet tall. I do not like these trees, besides roots they are always dropping dead branches. I need permission to cut them down from the hoa "the local busy bodies" and I need a good tree to replace them if I am going to have any chance of getting the go ahead to replace them. I have been hoping that a big storm would do the job for me but no luck yet. Any ideas on a good shade tree for charlotte area. I don't want a tree that gets over 40 feet either. Don't want a 100 foot tall tree falling on my house.

If its best to have a mulch base for this tree is it okay to also add some small flowers into that mulch bed or is it best to just leave it by itself? I'd like it to be a full bed like a center piece in my back yard.

Could the leaves turning red in June also be a sign of too much water? We have two October Glories and an Autumn Blaze, we are experiencing their leaves turning red, but we have had a lot of rain. How much mulch would you recommend covering the roots with? How long to leave the hose on them after weeks of no rain?

You could switch to almost any oak. Your asking the wrong person about the correct time to move something, because I will say today. Fall is probably best, but I would do it anytime. Good luck with it.

I planted an October glory maple tree about two months ago. It is about 7ft tall at this point. I made the mistake of over watering the tree (soak wet every day), and now most leaves are getting kind of burn, getting somewhat curled up, not very good looking. I think I messed it up with too much water. Is there any way I can help it go back to normal? Any help out there would be greatly appreciated.

where did u buy this tree?
@SonOfAGun18146 жыл бұрын
when fast growing trees dot com shipped to Arizona about 8 years ago I bought one of these from them when they listed it going up to zone 9 which i'm in. it's been planted since then and it literally grows about 1 inch per year lol. now they list it as only going up to zone 8 and no longer ship here. it's still tiny! this past fall was the first year when it didn't drop all of it's leaves super early and it actually gave me amazing fall color for our area, even though it was bright neon yellow vs. red. I heavily mulched it this year and am hoping it will turn out to be as good as it can be in my zone. I put it in the very middle of my back yard where I wanted a huge specimen tree with lots of shade but what can ya do :) it's still a tree and as long as it lives i'll keep trying to help it thrive
@JimPutnam6 жыл бұрын
One problem in this business is that most plants are only sold based on how cold the winters are and not how hot the summers are. Zone 9 is very different in different parts of the country. It definitely will benefit from having mulch on the roots.
