Hi, Thanks for a great report. My one is due end of Jan and looking forward to getting it. I have used FrSKY from the beginning of their production Taranis and prefer FrSKY to any other because it works ALL the time ! The built in battery really is NOT a problem .
@ArchmageAU7 жыл бұрын
The X10 & X10S comes default with FrOS, but can be changed to OpenTX. If you want to change Betaflight PID's, rates or VTX channels using telemetry you will need OpenTX for the LUA scripts. QX7 and Taranis have been OpenTX from the start. This should really a direct comparison to the Taranis X9D+ (which is a similar price).
@grixessedraxis72677 жыл бұрын
If using TBS - smartaudio or Immersion RC Tramp and betaflight OSD (Can Change PIDs, Rates, even VTX mw) . No need for waste time with LUA Scripts etc
@temporarychannelname85617 жыл бұрын
You still need the LUA scripts to change those things.
@grixessedraxis72677 жыл бұрын
mid throttle yaw left pitch forward Only need LUA scripts if using FRSKY telemetry to do it. I am changing it directly via the Betaflight OSD with TBS Unify on smartport which does not require even using a Taranis, you can use any transmitter to change Rates, PID's, Profiles, VTX Channels etc.
@chineseempanada4207 жыл бұрын
Grixes Sedraxis agreed
@camelKase7 жыл бұрын
Huh? The LUA script uses SmartAudio/TBS Telem for channel switching as well, it's not an alternative to it. Also the LUA script is far more efficient than fucking around in the OSD. Especially for channel switching, what do you if someone is already on your channel? Harsh language?
@multikillgaming26397 жыл бұрын
You forgot to mention it has internal diversity antennas so you don’t even need to put on that external antenna! It auto detects if the external antenna is attached too so you can’t burn out the board. I totally agree on the charging bit though, I truly hope they revise that more sooner than later.
@carlwilliambell7 жыл бұрын
I just bought one, compared to my other radios, the quality is outstanding. For the price, you will not find a better transmitter any where. I am totally awe struck buy this radio, and I have owned a Futaba top of the line for more than $1900. Just get it, you will love it. The charging brick is fine, no big deal, just don’t try to use your phone charger. The software update to Open Tx however is a pita. FrSky should just load it, even if they charge for it. That part can be tricky, but not awful. Thanks Stu. Hugs from South Carolina. Lamepilot.

its pretty, thats about it. my issues are the same as yours. the biggest is the internal battery and that adapter. also i was reading it does not have opentx from the factory. not good for the quad community. but im sure that can be changed easily. the XD9 still kills all these new radios in my opinion. I have only had mine for a little over a year but i have never had any issues out of it.

I have the Turnigy Evolution but I'm planning on buying a Taranis. After holding the X7 and the X9d, I much prefer the X9d. The jagged lines of the X7 are much more uncomforatable than the X9d. I really hope FrSky makes a modern version with more rounded ergonomics.

The wireless training feature comes in handy if your trying to follow the Australia regulations to the letter for FPV and are not part of a registered club, given your meant to have a spotter who can take over while under FPV (gets me why) The lack of battery change ... why ! :( for Camera work though you know the other side of us drone pilots ;) the massive amount of 3 pos switches come in handy.. 2 needed for mode, 2 pots for main camera gimble, possibly 2 if you have FPV on a gimbal, plus fail safe switch, switches for selecting start auto .. etc. but that battery :(

If all you are into is race drones this radio is overkill. But if you are into having the ability to fly complex fixed wing air craft as well as helis and drones and have the telemetry at your finger tips and throw in some long distance flight. This radio for the cost is a great deal and very capable piece of equipment.

indeed it looks cool, and it's obviously modernized version compare to Taranis X9D. but actually I'm looking forward to see Frisky to make a compact sized radio as Turnigy Evolution with reliable best radio link and good gimbal. color screen looks beautiful, but Futaba radio series are already good with this kind of thing. nothing fancy, but good feel, best radio link, easy to carry will be next essential thing for radio transmitter to me

Why won't Frsky make a small fpv pilot specific radio. We don't need that many switches, wireless trainer mode or that massive screen. It's about making a product for your customer. Maybe the issue is that Frsky wants to know what our needs are but we are not clearly defining them. Sure we're modding our transmitters; removing switches and throwing them into a landfill, removing NiMh batteries and throwing them into a landfill, removing antennas and throwing them into a landfill. It's like the first thing we do when we get a transmitter is pull it apart and fix it. Look I get it, sailplane guys need switches, and multiple channels and complicated mixing abilities. Helicopter guys need rotary knobs to adjust pitch curves etc, but look at the Frsky product line... they make 8 versions of the SAME transmitter! The Turnigy Evolution and TBS tango were the first real steps towards creating a TX specifically for the FPV community. Surely FRsky has been listening long enough to us now and they should know what we want. Sorry for my rant, but I would love to see KZbin reviewers help change the products companies are making for us instead of just accepting mediocrity. Not accusing you btw.... but you know what I'm saying.... sorry for my rant... maybe it's just me who feels this way.

If you don’t want to burn your house down you won’t plug anything other than the special adapter into that USB-C port. My friend has the DX9 and DX18 - he's tried lots of different RXs and he has had his DX18 checked by Spektrum. He would constantly get failsafes around 50m away when flying behind a line of trees. I never even get a warning with the Taranis X9D at the same place. We decided to do a full range ground test, walking with the RXs until failsafe. Both the DX9 and DX18 reached to around 280m. My Taranis reached the end of the field 510m away and still had full control. His solution was to buy a Crossfire for both of his Spektrums. I had read about people having problems with the X12 - it will be interesting to see how the X10 goes. My friend with the Spektrums is interested in the X10. Anyway, if your Spektrum is working for you then that's fantastic, but I wouldn't recommend them to newcomers based off personal experience.

Spektrum have/had big problems with RF section, they are originally built to comply with FCC rules (100mW ERP average 1W ERP maximum) and they had big problems make them be legal in rest of world (100mW ERP maximum in most cases). First versions of Spektrum sold in Europe had miserable range, but according to them now that issue is fixed (I was reading their statement after EU changed regulations and they stated that their radios are 100% in accordance with new regulations, which was not case with Frsky). All for Spektrum apply to old 2.4GHz JR radios which used Spektrum technology (JR and Spektrum had some deal) but now JR use their technology and they are much better.

Aiden Porter I think they say the Ipd is 58mm mate , I just measured mine , they are the very first model I bought them in December ( I don't think it has changed though) and it looks about 56 mm -58mm (hard to be any more accurate with a ruler ), my ipd is pretty small too and they just go close enough ! You may have some light leakage around side of your head if it is really small as the commander's face plate is of a larger radius than Fatsharks so you may need to use thicker foam on face plate 😎
