Hi, Steele. This is Alex from Ukraine... Couple of points about X10S and X10: 1. Neck strap holder is made of aluminum. 2. Since ext. antenna pigtale is detachable and not soldered to the iXJT - you can take one with longer thread to use custom antennas. 3. Yes- the bottom antenna is for bluetooth module. Cheers!

Really interesting. The X10 has that huge screen, tons of mixing options (on both FrOS and OTX) - it should really appeal to Heli and fixed wing people - but the only ones putting up reviews are quad flyers! Just ordered one, will be my first venture into OTX, but would love to get some insight into how complicated it is to program a full house glider on, with camber trim, butterfly mixing, flight conditions etc.

Please excuse me as I go off topic for a bit. I saw you say in a video somewhere, that the thing that needs to change is the battery situation... and I can’t agree more. I pretty much just got in to building and flying quads... and can’t believe the lipo situation! You can’t over drain them (Puff or Smoke). You can’t over charge them(Fire). If you damage them (fire).You can’t leave them charged (no punch) . They last for no time at all when flying (Sadness). Aaaand... They’re relatively large (Dragging down my quad). So I’ve got these crazy things in fireproof bags, sitting in a place where I feel safest for them to be... and I waste way too much time worrying about them exploding, or whatever. Sheesh! Again... I’m new and I know these are things everyone else has to deal with, but damn, Dude! Use you awesome Mr Steele powers to get the next gen batteries to everyone. Look... we know they’re out there... it’s just a matter of getting the owners of the tech to kick em down to us. 🤦🏻♂️ Thanks! Your fan, BadChizzle

Kinda surprised you didnt mention the X7S in that mixup. Similar quirks, same weird charger, removable ni-mh battery, usb-MINI port (right angle cable pairs great with that btw) same aluminum gimbles and makes a pretty medium price point between the x10s and x7 without adding all the extra unwanted features.
@scooterfpv88647 жыл бұрын
With the extra range I got on my toy radio transmitter using you video I can promise when the warranty runs out on the X9D Plus it's getting the mod as well . Thats the best bang for the buck I've seen and it's relatively easy to do too . Just sayin thanks and , congrats on the award as well .

Don't forget to add currently the qx7 doesn't work with crossfire micro without hardware mod, or software. Software goes from 4ms latency, to something ridiculous like 40ms(I forget exact). On the qx7 the m7 gimbal upgrades are worth it, and with a 90 degree usb the new plug location is awesome. Steele I know you said you don't like the aluminum feel when you throw it, but hows the resolution feel compared to the m9? Also if anyone is wondering range if Steele oks it i can post a link with range test, and only reason for turning around was fpv clarity.

Managed to avoid disarming the quad so far pinching the X7 but it's a lot of effort and had an epic fail today with frozen hands. Will definitely be moving the outer switches to the top of the radio, not really sure what they were thinking with that one....

LOL! The Futaba and FrSky protocols is almost same. And you will get a FS on futaba too in a difficult radio environment. But... Futaba can't all things that even the Taranis can))) And main argument - futaba is highly overpriced.

Hey Steele. It would be really great if you would do a video about pros/cons on using connectors vs. hard soldering parts of quad together. Since some people say that connectors unplug and are unsafe to use for connecting everything but if you modify your build often I see no reason why you wouldn't use them. Anyways in FB groups there multiple discussions on that, but I still didn't get the picture of what is better and I think also a lot of other viewers didn't, so your opinion would be great. Thanks.

Nice vid, i actually wondered about it when i saw it on your insta stories. I absolutely agree with your gripes about the radio, but there are some that i'd add personally. - Sorry, but fuck non-user-removeable batteries. Fuck'em real good. If i'm out flying and my radio battery goes low because i forgot to charge it, i don't want to be trying to find a wall outlet in the middle of nowhere _and_ freaking sit around for an hour or two waiting for the thing to charge. Why not make a simple battery compartment which actually just holds two 18650s? - The charging circuitry. Any charging circuit is basically a glorified PSU. What kind of PSU gets really warm when used? One with a linear regulator. Screw linear regulators. Just build a nice switched mode PSU in there, they're just slightly more expensive, but the benefits outweigh the cost. - From what i understand, the Type-C USB port is used solely for charging. Never, under no circumstance, use an interface that is standardized for something completely different than what it was intended to. Especially if it's user-accessible. Someone will end up connecting that thing to a computer and if he's lucky, nothing is going to happen. If he's not so lucky, something will catch fire. Make it a useable USB port that can be used for charging. It works fine for all the powerbanks with a handful of 18650s out there, why wouldn't it work for a radio with two 18650s?

I like the looks of the X10S. Need to feel one to really know if I would like it but it seems way better than the X12S monstrosity. However, I wouldn't even consider buying one until OpenTX is available for it. The X9D was a no-brainer buy based on form factor and they coordinated with OpenTX so it was available on day one.

2S is not enough for powering an external module like UHF transmitters for a long time, very strange choice from FrSky, they should have gone to 3S. I think imma get the x10s for myself for Xmas, I enjoy flying fixed wings as well but the programming on the x9d is the least intuitive thing I've ever used. So I've been using my team failsafe dx9 exclusively for fixed wings and the x9d for quads but it's really inconvenient to be lugging around 2 radios, this may be just the solution I've been looking for.
@pkvillager7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the overview. So what I got out of it is, STILL no one really makes a high quality multirotor specific radio... We are still stuck with old giant radios with tons of features we don't need or the low quality Turnigy Evo. Gruapner MZ-12 is my favorite for feel and size but they are stuck in the past with expensive and large RX's. I'm stuck with the best and worst radio at the same time the Qx7. Its a bargain as far as features go but its huge and clunky. Hall gimbals helped the feel a little but I'm still waiting for someone to make a high-end Evo competitor. TBS Tango doesn't cut it because it is huge, and you have to buy the module separately. I probably would have taken the plunge on the Tango if it at least came with its own module.

I don't understand how they can make a "new" Radio and mess up so badly. All the points you mentioned on the Horus should not be a problem AT ALL. They made the X9D so well and only needed a few improvements. Yet they changed the whole thing for the worse. The X12 appears to be aluminum as well, with just the same awkward ergonomics.

To be honest I think Fr-sky are totally missing the mini-quad market with all their radios. The QX7 is close: simple screen & a few essential buttons. But it needs to be smaller. Its for a mini-quad not a gigantor quad. 😃 I need to fit that thing in a backpack! ha ha Need a better Rf system that has longer more robust range. I get about 200m with stock X9D & after the 5dbi mod about 300m. To compete with crossfire & DJI products. Id like to see a game controller style radio from fr-sky too, im sure a lot of people would go for something super small. Just my opinion, perhaps you feel differently?

My experience with colour screens outside especially in bright sunlight is not a good one, what's wrong with a decent backlit reflective monochrome LCD like in the X9D, also not keen on the bigger size or shape, looks awkward to hold, so I will keep my X9D Plus. :-)

Nice to X12, X10 (90% of functions not needed for FPV Racing quad), X7 nudbad but can be smaller. Well it's just me, I'm stuck with the EVO for it's size but the recv choice is limited.
