Can you do a podcast on colors? You do such a good job at picking complimenting colors for your spaces. You talk about cool versus warm colors etc. How to pick colors and tones is a skill you need to share with us and give us a guide on how to pick colors in our own spaces ❤

On decorating with a blue Turkish rug for Christmas… ribbon is my friend!! A couple of years ago I purchased gorgeous velvet (4 inch and 1 inch) ribbon in dark blue and showy ice blue to place on the tree and in garlands- stunning! Pulled the blue in and helped blend original Christmas decor!

Midnight blue is lovely as Christmas decor! And very nice together with sage green and perhaps a darker red.

i used to like to host, but the holidays ended up being too complicated once my 3 boys moved away or got married. so i was feeling like i got my expectations too high and i would be disappointed when cancelations happened , etc. so to save me from getting upset, i just enjoy whenever they can visit.

I still decorate my home and just enjoy the seasons (including the seasons of life). Now I tend to use the time I would host to make holiday gifts. I make clay ornaments to use as package decorations that can also go on the tree each year, I make canned goods for the holidays like apple butter, jam, and assortments of homemade holiday candies like peppermint bark and such. I still wrap all the gifts and enjoy their beauty and wait to see when and how I fit into my kids schedule. Sometimes they come to us, but even so, I will still enjoy it like always. As for the big dinner, I host friends for the holidays all throughout December. We exchange small gifts and I get my fix of preparing food for those I love. It’s not the same, but it’s not supposed to be ❤️

Hi Macenna 😃 love your channel and your amazing vibe. Could you please do a podcast episode on decoration tips for when we have a puppy/dog inside the house? Perhaps you would be able to provide suggestions on beautiful decor that would be safe around indoor pets 🐕 by reflecting the relationship with your pup Kinsley.

As always, beautifully done! It would also be great to see actual photos taken at your parties, to complement each of your tips!

We had a business and I had so many dinner parties and Christmas was 3 parties back to back. One of about 100, 60 and 30. I cooked for all them, decorated every room and bathroom for years. I was young so I was like the energizer bunny. I used Pinterest for inspiration too. Now at 75 I wonder How did I do that, lol. I-still have family over and I set a beautiful table ..it makes people feel special. One drawback if you entertain like that is no one ever invites you over to their house because they feel they cant compete with that, but I say all that for you to invite someone like that because they just want to be with you and don’t care if you eat on paper plates. We all like to be invited.❤

I can relate to the challenge of decorating for seasons or holidays around a distinctive permanent color in a space. My living room walls are a dark rich blue (Pure & Original's fresco lime paint in Ink Blue), so I had to be very mindful of how I styled the rest of the room. Most of the furniture is white or light beige to offset the darkness (we also have huge windows for natural light), and for everyday decor (non-seasonal/-occasion) I use a lot of burnt oranges and blush pinks in the rug and textiles for warmth, because I think those pair well with the dark blue. For autumn I lean even more heavily into that burnt orange and a touch of richer jewel tone reds and greens. For Christmas, I go all out on the winter theme, like Macenna mentioned ☺️ Lots of white, light beiges, darker browns (think leafless trees and warm spices), a touch of pine green for an organic feel, and of course looots of gold for the festival of lights ✨

There is lots of gold and silver holiday decor -- goes with anything. My sister did an all-white Christmas tree one year -- not my thing but it did look beautiful. I honestly never look at my rug at Christmas!

So McKenna in your particular kitchen, the blue tone that you chose to do your hood over your stove with it’s not so predominantly blue that greens of certain tones could not and would not marry with it So don’t be misled folks she has a lot of great information, but you have to remember that she is talking and giving her advice based off of how, 1) she thinks and feels and 2) what her perception of what she in visualize her rooms in her home to be! And this is what she’s trying to get you to do! So don’t be discouraged by your own home decor or color just learn to recognize the colors on the color wheel that will all coordinate together and that’s just a matter of googling itYou don’t need somebody else to tell you what’s right or what’s wrong because in their eyes what they are telling you is what they say so it’s right for them. It may not necessarily be for you so keep that in mind.

I don't think your event decor has to go with your oven hood. That seems a bit much to me!
