It wasn't stated that when upgrading the engine for ascended, they also removed player dedicated servers to force players' hands into renting a server. Theres no reason other than greed, and the fact that they left out that detail makes me think there's lawsuit capability. Customers expected an upgraded product, but customers were left with having options of play removed, placed behind a paywall. This needs to be a bigger deal, but im not seeing anyone speak of it. Yes, I've heard of downloading a runnable server and having to port forward, this wasnt necessary with evolved. Still BS

​@@leviboley is it dedicated or nondedicated? I believe they are taking about dedicated, ie always running, servers. You can always launch your own nondedicated session, but you have to be present at all times for any other players to join or any time to progress within the save.

I set up a dedicated server on an older pc that I had. It works pretty well. You have to be pretty familiar with command codes and scripts. I’m still trying to research what some of the settings actually do.

Me and my friend were always peaceful players. And once we had a really nice base. We worked on it for 1.5 months. And it was all gone. In less than 5 minutes by someone with a Wyvern. We made a decision. Unless we’re being able to create our own private server, we won’t be returning

The Devs need to raise the non dedicated tether distance. Its only 180 meters which is really sad. And the menu tether distance slider does not work as well.

Me and a friend are both on series S and it doesn't matter if i have the actual game installed or playing through cloud, she cannot join me and i cannot join her non dedicated game , when she tries to join it brings up a message saying " sorry you can't join this game session , you need the xbox series X/S version of the game to join the game session " and there is a code in brackets which is - 0x87e10019 . Me and my friend play Ark Ascended on the PS 5 but like one of the other users mentioned here below, the custom tether distance does not work. So even when we input a manual number like 50 or 100 we are still limited to 180 meters which sucks because we can never be far apart or go on solo missions we always have to be next to one another. Is there any way to fix this or any way to contact the devs of Ark Ascended to ask them directly?

Thank you, have been wondering how all that worked and what it meant. Nevertheless I still find it a little confusing. I was wondering, I am 71 yrs old and just enjoy taking my time and doing my own thing, single player on the island atm and PVE of course, without having to talk to others but at same time would be nice to fly by other players and check out their bases and dont feel totally alone on the Island.
