I actually think the original spinner on the axle should have stayed there - that was just the stirrer, but it's essentially the same part and did the job! I was super impressed with this machine and actually warmed up some more soup afterwards for lunch (not frother though!)... for more individual appliance kitchen gadget testing videos like this, check this playlist kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZ2pipmeqbiWiJY

Ive had one of these a few years, its great. Children really like nesquik milkshakes in them, never put ice cubes in, not sure thats a good idea. Always think would be nice if the heater was a little bit warmer but overall is a great device.

@@radfoo I would check with the manual. Usually it says if it can. I heard stories of people having unpleasant things in drinks after using a machine that wasn't meant to crush or break ice. Not sure how true that is, but better to be safe than sorry.

I got a velvetiser last year for Xmas. It's amazingly good. Not sure what you meant about subscribing for chocolate packet deliveries etc. You can get the hotel chocolate packets from the shops and some supermarkets for it (just their own super high quality choc) but it works with pretty much all of them. (Willy's hot chocolate mix from Waitrose is bomb) I wouldn't put ice in it (prob work) as I'm worried that'd damage the spinner. But you could just pour over ice like professionals do for cold drinks? Spout and handle make it super easy to pour, it's self clean is very useful and it just works. Plus it's by Dualit so it's prob going to last almost forever. You should try one, even as a one off test.

I would use the normal spinner and fill it up to max. Then I would add a small amount of milk with the frothier spinner and pour on top. If that makes sense. So I get a full cup and frothy top 😂

One thing to consider with getting a milk frother such as this is check your hot water kettle, and get a froth device compatible with the same base so you can swap both out on your counter quickly. Most likely they will use the same base station, and this will save space on your counter and from having to switch the plugs back and forth.

Barry, Put the machine away and make some Spanish hot cocoa. Use: 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 cup sugar, 7 tsp. corn starch, 1/2 cup water, 4 cups milk. In a saucepan mix the cocoa powder and sugar, dissolve the corn starch in the 1/2 cup water, mix it into your cocoa mix, gradually heating up and adding your 4 cups of milk, let it sit for 10 minutes. I have a Velvetiser, however I haven't tried it in the machine. I just like my Spanish chocolate, it's like melted pudding. I use less sugar, but that's just personal preference . I first had it in Madrid, and fell in love with this recipe. In your machine, try mint cocoa powder, it's really good, just another suggestion.

From my understandings, as an at home barista, with my fancy espresso machine, the froth (if done right) brings the sweetness to the top. If you drink it slow, you get a little sweeter taste in each sip. Of course, the one in the kettle, is not a proper one. This is the one in the video. As an added note, the fats in the chocolate is what you most likely frothed.

Came close to buying a cheaper one after my Velvetiser broke after many years but went for another on sale, because it makes coffee, matcha, tea, everything bloody else you can think of warm drink wise and it's beyond easy to clean which when you have many disabilities is a pro for sure. Im normally with you on hot chocolate powders with water, however there is one brand that I really enjoy here in Australia, and thats Quality Street hot chocolate powder, in Choc Fudge flavour. Now I think the winning point is that its a whopping 3 heaped tablespoons (yes, table-spoons) of mix per mug. Its rich, decadent, but I dont think you get much out of a tin. I'm with you Barry, on the hot choc with milk not water, also try nesquick choc powder, makes amazing hot choc.... also the huge tin of nesquick hot choc powder you can get, also doubles as normal milkshake powder, so 2 in 1!

I bought something like this at B&M. It was really good as a milk warmer, but once I put Cocoa powder in the kettle, the heating just stopped working and all I can do now is froth milk. I have no idea how to fix it and I eventually stopped bothering on trying to make it work. I didn't want to spend another £25 on another broken product.

I wonder if you put some grated candy canes and dark chocolate With the milkshake could you blend the milk without the frother then put it through again with the frother

My favorite hot chocolate is Abuelita and it comes in a puck 🤔 I guess you could grate it but I don't mind stirring it on a cold morning

know it's an old video now but totally agree with you on the hot choc with water or milk.. cannot stand when it's made with water! it's just not nice at all.

Thanks for the review, because I looked at the velvetiser, but the price! No. Often fancy a hot chocolate, but do not have a microwave, so need to do it on the stove, but whatever tips I try, the milk sticks to the bottom on my pan and is a pain to clean, so I do not make a hot chocolate. But hot chocolate does need to be made with milk. I worked in a coffee shop and we always used milk, despite having a mix with hot water, choc, sugar, milk powder mix.

I think the instant hot chocolate powder that are designed to be done with water I think normally contain milk powder, hence why it was able to froth? Maybe?

Scrolling through the Aldi app as I watch hoping they'll have one. Not at the moment. I shall keep looking and will grab one if I see them. I make my own hot chocolate mix, mostly as a gift for Mum, and I reckon this would take it to the next level. I do make it up with water but it contains milk powder so it's milky and creamy.
