For ice fishing with sausages, in murky water, my go-to is the so-called “red” hotdogs, which are actually bright pink. They almost glow. In more clear water, I prefer white bratwursts. If you need to downsize, Vienna Sausages or Li’l Smokies work well. If I am in New York, I like to hook a slice or a calzone to a Forage Minnow Jig on a deadstick. Just remember that the NY DNR has a two-topping limit for slice fishing.

This was truly AGGRAVATING! Both for me, and for you, Bryan! I know you really tried very hard, though, so, yeah... I'll give you an A+ for effort. I've gotten skunked before, too, when I've been out fishin,' so I definitely know how it feels. Keep them thar' lines tight, Brother!

It's strange, here in Alberta its been unusually warm this winter. We barely have 14" of ice. Usually have way more by now. Glad your winter has made a lot of ice 👍

Where ya fishin in Alberta? Lac la biche has 20-21” and it’s a big lake
@chris_271416 күн бұрын
@gage.c4581 central AB. Sylvan only has about 14". Four trucks have gone through this season so far. New record I think 😂
@gage.c458115 күн бұрын
@ holy that’s so weird, there was probably 300 trucks on lac la biche 0 fell through haha. Wabamun area has abnormally thin ice too like it’s almost 20” by now usually but yeah around 14”
@BryanProkuski13 күн бұрын
Ya that is strange. Crazy how far north you are from me but yet we are gaining more ice. Weather last couple years have been odd. Glad this year ice is looking good finally.

Now, if the stupid thing would just go on ahead, and chow down on that Hotdog, we might just have something here! Instead..... Nothing. That dumb Pike nosed almost right up to it... several times...and then just sat there. What'd that crazy thing think he was doing? Babysitting that Hotdog?!? That's what it looked like to me... Stupid Pike!!! Oh, well..... maybe next time...

Try "mini-dogs" for crappie, perch, even walleyes like the taste of all beef dogs, in small sizes

Just a heads up, if you're in Minnesota it is illegal to use a treble hook that's not apart of a lure. Not that many anglers care, but if you were to be stopped by DNR they may have a few words. Keep up the great vids!

Haha......everytime I see one of these videos, I have to re-tell my story from an ice fishing trip to Devils Lake a few winters back. Pike will eat hot dogs, although I'd go with a half and not a whole. On the trip, I caught a nice 4 pound pike that I kept to eat. If you haven't tried a pike out of devils lake in the winter, you're missing out. The pike eat their share of freshwater shrimp and their flesh is slightly pink and really good. Anywho, when I was cleaning this nothern, I noticed a bump in the stomach. It turned out to be a hot dog WITH grill marks.... ;-0 ;-)

@rhettgiesbrecht558416 күн бұрын
Clearly it’s time to give up on the hotdogs and try some dead fish. The way they’re nosing it like that is them tasting it. They obviously aren’t into it. A 5-6” dead mackerel or any oily fish like that would more likely get them to eat
