It’s highly highly common in the industry since the 60s. Mike did most of the bass but very well known in the industry. After Ed’s passing it was even brought up in a big KZbin documentary where they went to sunset studios and analyzed the original VH record. It’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve done it in my bands when I have a particular feel as the songwriter. Ya have to respect that. But there are bands I won’t name out of respect knowing them that yea they hired studio musicians for writing / recording and what you know as the band members just toured live and were the faces. Hell Dave GROH did it on the Color and Shape record. Didn’t even tell the damn drummer. It’s in their documentary. They talk about it.
