Here's the first 20 minutes of the broadcast of another edition of the Hot Fudge Show as aired over WLS Channel 7. The Mits puppets are in evidence, as is Ron Coden and floating hot dogs.
[Note: the only reason this recording exists is that it immediately followed an early morning ABC News special on the maiden launch of the 1st Space Shuttle (Columbia) - sadly (or not, you decide), the tape ran out before the episode was complete]
As evidenced by a first-season episode (posted here: • Hot Fudge Show - “Will... ), this originated from then-sister station WXYZ Channel 7 in Detroit, and aired for years on at least three other stations besides its home station: here, WABC Channel 7 in New York and KGO Channel 7 in San Francisco. By this time, it was also syndicated to other stations, not all necessarily affiliated with ABC.
All show bumper voiceovers by Janice Gears Kos.
Includes:
Station ID / promo for Seven On: The Space Shuttle (with Joel Daly)
Segment 1 starts with show open (theme music sung by Larry Santos), then Stacy writing a letter to her friend Julie and explaining the importance of friendships; Seymour at the piano performs "We Should Have Been Friends Long Ago"; Mr. Nasty (Ron) gives advice on how to treat friends; an "Unreasonable Report" from Harry Unreasonable with Glenn Denver; "Holy Moley" segment with Ron and (?) involving a hot dog sandwich
Commercials for:
Post Alpha Bits cereal (with "Mr. A and Mr. B")
Tang (in outer space with robotic Tang and flying creatures) (1980 Copyright)
(what seems like a) Super long promo for upcoming AM Chicago episodes (with Robb Weller)
Segment 2 starts with Glenn Denver and Jeffrey, then "Name That Feeling" segment with Professor Emotion (Ron) and Caz (guessing Stacy's feelings); song "People Care About People Who Share"; "Name That Feeling" resumes; Mona wonders about whether she'll become a teenager, and Seymour strikes a conversation; another "Holy Moley" segment
Commercials for:
Post Honey Comb cereal (pirates invade the Honeycomb Hideout on foggy day)
Kool-Aid (at Bump-O-Rama car ride) - "Oh Yeah!!" (with Richard Berg as the voice of the Kool-Aid Man)
Promos for "Which Way to the Front?" for Monday and "The Sad Sack" for Tuesday (as part of Jerry Lewis Week) (main voiceovers by Ernie Anderson) (ending voiceovers by Janice Gears Kos)
Segment 3, starting out with Ron as Detective Tomato (a Columbo-like character) giving one of his tips (recording ends as he's midway through his segment)
This aired on local Chicago TV on Sunday, April 12th 1981 likely during the 8:40am to 9:00am timeframe. (seems like the Space Shuttle special ended late) (earliest original airdate for this episode our researcher Chris Tufts can find is April 1976)
This is from a videotape donated to the Museum of Classic Chicago Television as part of the Dr. William Matviuw collection.
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The MCCTv (FuzzyMemoriesTV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s to early 80s, mostly) recorded off of TV (in Chicago or other cities now too); things which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: tapes@fuzzy.tv Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to digital, please e-mail tapes@fuzzy.tv Thank you for your help!

If Hot Fudge stayed on until 1981, then that show earned one heck of an reward.

“Hot Fudge Show” was also shown in New York City on WNEW-TV (channel 5) in 1981. Remember the song “Write-On”? That bass line ripped off the Pointer Sisters’ “Yes We Can Can”, because of the intro.

I think I've posted here before that "Hot Fudge" aired on early morning Detroit WXYZ weekend TV well into the 1990s.
