Angel (Simon Pegg) and Danny (Nick Frost) engage in a furious gun battle with the villagers of Sanford, including Rev. Shooter (Paul Freeman) and Dr. Hatcher (Stuart Wilson).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A top London cop who is so good at his job that he makes his fellow officers look like slackers by comparison is "promoted" to serve in the sleepy village of Sandford in this contemporary action comedy from the creators of Shaun of the Dead. Police constable Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) always gets his man, but these days his impeccable record seems to be more indicative of his fellow officers' shortcomings than his own formidable skills as a keeper of the peace. Loathe to stand idly by as their once respectable track record is steadily soiled by the hyper-competent actions of one lone overachiever, Sergeant Angel's superiors at the Met soon determine to remedy their problem by relocating the decorated constable to the West Country village of Sanford -- where tranquil garden parties and neighborhood watch meetings stand in stark contrast to the violent crime and heated gunplay of the city. As Sergeant Angel does his best to adjust to the relative calm of his new environment, his oafish new partner Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) strives to gain the respect of his fellow constables while sustaining himself on fantasies of his favorite action films and police shows. You know what's hilarious was I never saw a single trailer for this film, knew nothing about it except the title, and about 30 minutes in assumed it was a quiet independent film like The Grand Budapest Hotel. Which I was okay with. And then it picked up a bit. Possibly the most fun I've had watching a movie.

Earlier in the film, after the Romeo and Juliet performance, Simon Skinner tells Angel that the understudies Greg and Sheri are professional actors. At 0:36, we see the extent of their "professional" acting when Sheri acts like she's been brutally shot with her overdramatic fall and scream 😂 Little things like that make Edgar Wright films so freaking fun to watch. I love it.

TRIVIA: The woman shouting "FASCIST!" and firing the machine gun is Billie Whitelaw, a three-time BAFTA winner and one of England's most acclaimed actors in the 20th century thanks to her longtime collaboration with playwright Samuel Beckett. I think Hot Fuzz is the best one out of all the trilogies, and I'll tell you why. It's a film I could watch OVER and OVER again, it's just pretty much a PERFECT of a film as you can make it and it's Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost at their very BEST. It's a spoof on every Hollywood action movie, and has an epic soundtrack. And lastly, I saw it again after years, and I STILL find small hidden gems in the backgrounds, dialog and within the characters (f.ex: The old woman yelling Fascist, while firing a Austrien MP3) XD. It's an amazing film and I hope they all work together again soon!
