Angel (Simon Pegg) and Danny (Nick Frost) stage a raid on the Somerfield supermarket with police reinforcements in tow.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A top London cop who is so good at his job that he makes his fellow officers look like slackers by comparison is "promoted" to serve in the sleepy village of Sandford in this contemporary action comedy from the creators of Shaun of the Dead. Police constable Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) always gets his man, but these days his impeccable record seems to be more indicative of his fellow officers' shortcomings than his own formidable skills as a keeper of the peace. Loathe to stand idly by as their once respectable track record is steadily soiled by the hyper-competent actions of one lone overachiever, Sergeant Angel's superiors at the Met soon determine to remedy their problem by relocating the decorated constable to the West Country village of Sanford -- where tranquil garden parties and neighborhood watch meetings stand in stark contrast to the violent crime and heated gunplay of the city. The thing I love about the tail end of this movie is how all of the cops actually show how capable they all are and how their dialogue with Nicholas gets reversed.

I love that Fisher's the one who comfortably takes charge during an assault, coming up with a damn good plan off the cuff. He might not be able to work a case or a crowd as well, but maybe missed his calling for SWAT? That's true of all of them, really, the whole department moves like a well-oiled machine once they know the score.

what I love about this film is the more overarchinf theme. at first, Angel takes his job 100% seriously, and doesn't want to loosen up in any way, because he believes in the law and upholding it with no excuses. but when he is shoved into a situation so ludicrous that it forces him to become a crazy action hero, he realizes he has never had fun until now. the film is more than a simple action film parody, its about a man realizing that he has wasted his time, and learning that its okay to let loose and truly enjoy yourself sometimes

They said on the DVD commentary that the curved glass was actually really expensive, so they didn't want to break it and have to pay for it. Then they decided that it made the scene funnier if Skinner was so prepared for the apocalypse that he had a bulletproof deli counter. Of course later on they broke it by accident so the whole thing ended up being moot.

Double barrel is older than WWI and wasn't used. They used 1897 Winchester shotguns because of a higher shell capacity and the fact many Americans already used these shotguns because of farming. I get the sense this movie is a British parody of American action movies. As such, it is wonderful. Also, some movie someday needs to have a scene where someone keeps re-cocking their shotgun in anticipation of action, and when the action actually happens finds they're out of ammo as they'd already ejected all their cartridges.
