Hi Pegeen, I think the gilding glue is a good thing actually. Some hot glues have a bit of tack to them before they completely set so if you can dry off your bead with a lint free cloth you may be able to use the leaf without the gilding glue...It's a toss up. You certainly can coat them but the glue does a pretty good job of keeping on the gilding.
