This was the most intense, disturbing book I have read in a long, long time -- and one I also gave 4.5 stars to, because of the way it kept me turning the pages and the incredible writing. Definitely all the trigger warnings for this one! I find myself thinking about it often and it has been several weeks since I read it.

Intense is definitely a good word to describe it. Glad you ‘enjoyed’ it too 🧡

I loved this one, the last half was especially tense, but I have recommended it to no one lol. It’s just so dark!

I know what you mean, it’s very dark and definitely not for everyone!! 😬

So glad you found one you enjoyed after the Booker disappointments! Dark is not my cup of tea, so I will pass. Thank you for the review!!

I like a bit of darkness in a novel. You sold this one to me, unless there are a lot of blow by blow descriptions of sex as for me those get dull after a while.

I don’t think the sex descriptions are over done, just a bit brutal in places. I’d be really interested to hear your thoughts on this one Ros

I will be giving this a go at some point as I find Emezi a really interesting author - the only book I’ve read of theirs so far that I didn’t enjoy was Fresh Water which I dnf’d.

I feel like your review has sold it. Might just wait til I am craving a darker plot driven book. ❤
