I find that the metal rod of the tapered repair reamer uncormfortable against my fingers. I modified mine by installing a small wooden file handle on each rod end. You made a comment about not over tightening the screws which go into soft pine. I harden the holes by placing a drop of superglue in each hole and distribute it throughtout the hole with probe made from a guitar string scrap. I do this at the time of disassembly so that the glue is completely dry before the screws are reinserted. This also works well for tuning machine mounting holes on the peghead of stringed instruments.

Reamer. Maybe a violin peg hole reamer. Here (the USA) they have them at Stewart-MacDonald (STEWMAC) and Luthiers Mercantile.

Could you put a link up Lester, as I am trying to find some bushing felt. Many Thanks.
What do you use for pins and where do you get them, please, Lester? I used hornby track pins and I found them difficult to bend. You seemed to do it quite easily.
