Hot Rod Dual Carb conversion for the 33 coupe! Part4. (Update 2443)

Hello! Welcome to Mart's Garage. I decided to run my 33 coupe at this year's VHRA Hot Rod Races at Pendine. I have ran it before in single carb configuration, so I wanted to see what a difference a dual carb setup would make. Well, Pendine is over and I know how much of an improvement these dual carbs made. I never finished showing the the steps I had to take to make the dual carbs fit and work. So here we are continuing with the dual carb conversion. The rest of the engine is unchanged and pretty well stock. The manifold does not fit as is so follow along while I make a series of modifications. In the last videos I evolved a plan, started the machining and got the carbs bolted on using custom studs. In this video I continue with how to mount the generator and fuel pump stand. and start on the throttle linkage. Lots of lathe and milling machine work involved in this job.
The engine in the coupe is the crusty flatty. The one I featured in a video series a few years ago. Check it out the playlist if you want to see an engine that in reality should have been scrapped.

The joys of threading on a lathe, it can be immensely satisfying or endlessly enraging, depending on the alignment of the stars. I like your clever fix on the linkage problem.

Some fine hotrod DIY! Do your carbs still have power-valves and if so, are they the stock ones?

Hi Art. Stock power valves on this one. On my sedan I also used stock power valves but I did snip a little off the springs. I held the valves and pushed them together to make sure they both moved at the same time. The coupe has a stock cam, the sedan has a hotter cam so I modded the valves on the sedan.

Hi Mart, Why is there a mechanical fuel pump and an electric fuel pump

Hi Michael. Pumps are in series. The electric one is to prime the system after the car has been standing for a while. Saves a lot of cranking. Thanks for watching.
