Me too. It’s a brand brand new motor and I couldn’t imagine it being anything other than that, but it wasn’t acting the same as it has in the past when plugs are found Thanks for watching

Great point on the carb sizing!!! That engine likely sees 3500 rpm at the most, a 450 to 500 cfm carb would do great!

You know me. I’m a practical no BS guy… I am more concerned about what works in the real world without trying to be milking every ounce of horsepower. You’re a carburetor guy, I know you get it. Thanks for watching brother. I appreciate you.

Question for you Mike. If you don't have a sand blaster is a wire wheel an acceptable alternative for cleaning spark plugs? I seem to remember my Dad doing that a few times when he didn't just buy new ones. Do you need to re-gap them after cleaning? Until next time. A plug fowls down in the barrel and the porcelain gets coated with carbon and shorts out to the case. So a wire brush is not likely to do the job.

I never used the choke on my Chevy (600 Holley) it would flood the hell out of it on the coldest day. I've never had one with an electric choke so I can't comment. The old mechanics said #2 is the cold cylinder on a Chevy. Cold water circulates around #2 before the thermostat opens and the cylinder wears more than the rest of the cylinders. It doesn't look like you have a heater so I don't think it can on your car. 2,8,3,and5 run off of the same side of the carb but I think 2 would be closest to the right-side front of the carb. So, the mixture might be a little rich on the right side. I seriously have looked at going away from Holley on some of my projects. (I can't believe I'm saying this.) On a stock Chevy I'd rather have a good Q-jet than a truckload of Holleys. LOL!!! RAWK!!

I actually did my senior thesis for my power tech minor on hot rodding Quadrajet carburetors when I was in college. 😂😂 I love quad jets. They’re great carbs. You can’t beat a good old on-demand air door carburetor.

@@MyKARSShop I had one on my 400 big block way back in the day, Bent the pushrods on cylinder 3 in the figure 8 one night. Never could get the thermo quad right before I switched to the Q-Jet. Wish I still had that engine.

Time to lean it out a bit.

Yeah. Next spring I’ll probably step down the Jets one or two sizes.
