I love these hot dogs! I am new to pickling eggs and hot dogs, so I tried several recipes and this one. I like this one the best, next is a recipe I found using balsamic vinegar. The other recipes seem to be kind of bland.

I just canned this recipe instead of putting in the fridge - I have a lot of grown kids who can eat a whole jar in one sitting and I need simple foods on the shelf for them. My kitchen smells amazing! I have 21 quarts finished, tomorrow will be another 21 :) Now to go see what else he posted on his channel. I'm glad his family kept the channel going, I love seeing the legacy of those who are gone. He is still inspiring and helping others create delicious food and that is a beautiful thing.

Ok...I made these and let them sit in the fridge (once they cooled) for 5 days. I put a couple ounces of red wine in each batch of brine. I didn't have the same wine as Shotgun Red used but the brine turned out really nice. I tried the pickled hotdogs for the first time this morning. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS as were the onions that were added. These are going to be savored while I watch my football games when the boys come over. Add a couple beers...and a bowl of crackers...awesome. Shotgun Red will always be missed...but I'll be thinking of the guy every time I make these in the future. Ryan T.

This gave me an idea, I go through lots of pickles, also sweet and hot jalapenos, jalapenos with a bread and butter type brine they're really good. i get in this kick I save the juices when peppers are gone and drop a fresh batch of dill pickles in the jar after a while the baby dills take on the heat from the bread and butter jalapenos. After watching this video a couple days later I grabbed a can of Vienna sausages out to put on crackers and the idea hit me. So I'm trying the Vienna in the jalapeno brine to see what I get, added a few jalapenos a couple chili peppers and garlic cloves. Got a feeling this is going to be good shouldn't take very long for these little doggies to soak up the flavor. RIP Steve

That is my method for pickling vege. My Irish immigrant grandmother used to pickle beef Using older methods of boiling and "canning." I was never brave enough to eat it. I might try this as "refrigerator pickles." They can last months. I never thought of the Franks Hot Sauce.

I've tried 4 of his recipes. They are no words for the tasty flavor, my favorite was his pickled shrimp. I know heaven is enjoying every meal he makes. I really miss this guy, I wish shelia her best and may God bless her. Im so sorry for her loss. Wish her much happiness.

So I will ask for a third time. What type of wine is Shotgun Reds touch of sweet wine? I want to try this but I can't get a straight answer. Is it like a port wine? I can't find this in WI
@CookingwithShotgunRed
@CookingwithShotgunRed Жыл бұрын
Yes, it's similar to Port Wine. You can only order it online from Vinoshipper 😊 Just go to Shotgunred.com.

What is shelf life ?
@CookingwithShotgunRed
@CookingwithShotgunRed 2 жыл бұрын
Does it go bad and how long does pickled meat last? The shelf life for a pickled meat should be treated as any other cooked protein (good for 7 days post cooking) because it's a quick pickle and not preserved the same as traditional pickles
