Personally the Tamashii Nations one is still my favorite because of how clean it is but this Hot Toys version is the next best thing.

Fantastic! I have mine displayed with Salacious on the shoulder too for something a little different 😅. The screw is accurate to the costume. Great attention to detail by HT. Yes those screws are screen accurate to the Anthony Daniel's costume in all Star Wars appearances with C-3PO. Great review and what a beautiful figure. I want to pick this one up as well as the new 40th anniversary Return Of The Jedi Darth Vader figure too.

Yo Chris! Greetings, buddy. Thanks mucho for the video, I jumped to watch when I saw this in my feed. As you know I'm an OT person and have this figure on pre-order, the first ever Hot Toy I have bought that way. And for once... (lol) you will get no argument from me! It looks very good indeed and I can't wait to get mine. I'm not so bothered about Salacious Crumb tbh, I think he will probably stay in the box. At least until there's a Hot Toys Jabba in my collection! 😏 My plan is a classic side-by-side with R2, (I also have that figure, ready and waiting.) They will make a great addition to my OT display. Niggles. Oh come on, mate, you know me! 😆 Pretty sure those cross-head screws in the hips are NOT screen accurate, but I can live with that. A bigger niggle for me is the eyes. Yep, they look fantastic when switched on. But you and I both know that those little batteries in Hot Toy figures last no time at all. Really. The ones in R2D2 get exhausted in less than half an hour if you leave them on. So of course 90% of the time, you leave them off, because who wants to be switching them on and off all the time. Now when C3PO's eye lights are off, he doesn't look as fantastic, right? Like he's deactivated. So why couldn't Hot Toys have included a face plate with kind of like a bright reflective coating at the back of the eye socket. Kind of a compromise for collectors who don't want to be forever replacing batteries and fiddling about? These are minor moans though, this is a truly aMaZiNg figure, the best new release from Hot Toys in a long time imho. Long live the Original Trilogy!!

Yes as an OT purist I thought you might be getting this one! Congrats on locking the pre-order in, think this one is going to be popular. Haha I was waiting for the niggles! But yeah in this case I think you're spot on about the eyes, he does look deactivated when they're switched off so would have been cool to have them as you describe. I know they can do paint that looks like it's lit up so something like that would have been cool. But yeah I agree these are minor complaints, enjoy the figure when yours arrives mate!! @@TK421Collectibles Cheers mate! Just to prove that I'm not infallible (lol) I have to confess I was wrong about the cross head screws in the hips. They are in fact totally screen accurate to the C3PO suit from ROTJ. I believe the original is on display in the Smithsonian in the US, photos online clearly show large circular screw heads with a X cross. Oh and while my heart will always belong to the OT, I wouldn't call myself a purist. I enjoy the prequels too, and my teenage son taught me to enjoy the Clone Wars and the Bad Batch. **whispers** It's just the sequels I detest. Sorry! 😏

I missed out on the AOTC R2 because it waitlisted so quickly. I really could use a good R2-D2 in my display, the Sideshow version is better than nothing, it does include the serving tray, but I want something better than that! Then I can repaint the Sideshow R2 into another droid, or put him in a different part of the display.

I'm surprised how quickly this got released! I just made my payment for this month on C-3PO on Sideshow, eventually he will take the place (behind my Sideshow Jabba!) of the Sideshow C-3PO. Salacious B. Crumb will be dueling for a seat on Jabba's throne with his Sideshow version...I'll have no use for the sculpted pillow, there are tons of real ones available! But seeing both versions side by side I feel that AOTC has more detailed paint application and I’m not sure about weathering on the golden C3P0. And at the same time I don’t want to miss out on this character,I don’t know if Hot Toys will ever make ROTS version of him 😢

It's very difficult to predict what Hot Toys will make isn't it! I'd really love a super shiny version e.g. RotS version like you say or the ANH celebration version. But at the moment if you only want one it's definitely a tough call between this and the AOTC version! As you're more into the prequels then the AOTC one makes sense, but can you go without the gold!?! 🫣 Let me know what you decide anyway!! 😃👊🏻

I would love to upgrade my Sideshow version to this however, with all the Attack Of The Clones figures as well as the Kenobi Vader on the horizon, I might have to settle for the time being. My only gripe with both the Hot Toys and Sideshow versions is I wish his eyes had a white backing to them so the lights didn't have to be on. Other than than, fantastic piece. Great review mate. Those screws are such an inconsistent part of 3po 😂, they exist on the PT costume, arent present during ANH , are there through ESB to ROSW then have changed design for the ahsoka costume

I did like that Sideshow one, I think it would have been a good idea for me to keep that one and have this one displayed with the eye out so display both looks. This is fantastic love it! Amazing detailed review. I got this on order and it’s going to be my first 3PO and I’m super pumped. I passed on the AOTC version for this one. Quick question, I’ve seen people question the weathering either it’s to much or not enough, you think the weathering is good in hand?

Nice one mate glad you've got your PO locked in on this one! As an OT fan first, if I had to keep just one it would definitely be this one above the AOTC version, so you definitely made the right call! Re: weathering, looks dusty like you'd expect after walking in the desert on Tatooine to get to Jabba's Palace. I don't think he was weathered exactly the same throughout RotJ so I guess the weathering in general is pretty subjective! Personally I think the weathering is perfect tbh! The Phillips screws are not accurate, as far as I can tell from images. I stand corrected. When 3PO is telling the Ewoks a story, you do see the screws.

Nice review, I've been waiting for Hottoys to do C-3PO for years but I don't like it and will pass on it, if they even do a ANH version I will pass on that as well as it will use the same body, I think the Sideshow one is better than this and never really liked that either! but I I'll pick one up cheap somewhere now that this is out.

You should have no problem picking up the SS version, it’s a great figure tbh. I’ve also heard the Tamashii Nations C-3PO is the ultimate 1/6 scale version but it’s always been out of my budget. Thanks for checking out the video 👊🏻

Tamashii Nations C-3PO@@TK421Collectibles Yup the Tamashii Nations C-3PO is up their but it has problems, clunky arm pistons wrong eye light colour and as you said it's expensive, I have two 1.6ish (bit small) Medicon RAH C-3PO's they have proper chrome silver and gold finishes (not gold paint or goldish coloured metal.

Interesting, seems so strange that on the real costume they would have giant screw heads, I wonder if they aren't supposed to be screw heads, they just look like that in 1/6 scale. Always dude! @@TALON80s if you have your PO locked in though you should be fine, think it's rare for a Sideshow PO to not be fulfilled. Unless they've started 'double booking' slots just to make sure they definitely have no stock sitting around when people cancel!

Damn it. I have a Bandai 3PO model kit (yet to be made). I was sure it was 1/6 scale. Looking online today, it's a 1/12 scale kit. The wife will divorce me if I order another figure this Yr (I have 5 PO's Arriving this yr). I have a 6 scale R2. 3PO would look stupid at half the size.

It can work to have different scales in the same display. But yeah I think C-3PO and R2 go best together at the same scale. Time to tell the wife you've won a figure in a raffle or something! 😅
