Hot Tuna recorded live during 1976. This is a selection from an audience tape that reflects the power and musical muscle of the band during the "Rampage Years".

Ohhh man.....this takes me back to the entire 70's of big arena rock shows. Just listen to this wild-ass crowd....that's what rock is supposed to do to you! Folks.....if you're a Boomer like me (66 in '20) wouldn't you agree, we got damn lucky as to when we were born? I mean.....I feel very Blessed to have the massive experiences I have under my belt. Kids nowdays are fatter than hell.....sit at home play computer games forever....and live on their cell phones. WE...had real lives. But God Bless us all, I say.

What an amazing and versatile band.....I'm right there with ya mjm....Jorma's brought the music to us in Phx many times over the last decade and I have to say that the outdoor electric show they did about 9 or 10 years ago here was just phenomenal--I remember Jorma saying something like "It's so fucking nice to be someplace that isn't cold as hell" ....It was like December or January in Scottsdale-perfect weather and perfect music... Oh if the Tuna would do that again cuz it was SO MUCH FUN !!!

If anyone ever tells you that bass is simply a backup instrument, tell them to check out Jack Cassidy, just amazing!

Anyone under that illusion hasn't heard Surrealistic Pillow ... The bass line in Somebody To Love is phenomenal. Another classic Tuna number is Water Song, actually even a bit better than this one.

Words are hard todescribe how special thus is. The fucking vrowd is almost as loud as the band. Just so beautiflly powerful. A time capsule for sure but timeless as well. Jack! Jack! Jack and what about thundering Bob Steeler all of course guided by the embryonic cascade masterfully guided by The Captain.

The Owsley Stanley Foundation presents its third chapter: Bear’s Sonic Journals: Before We Were Them, Jorma Kaukonen & Jack Casady, Veterans Memorial Building, June 28, 1969, available now on CD. This live concert recording features recently discovered and previously unreleased music from Jefferson Airplane’s fabled guitar and bass players before they became known as Hot Tuna. This live concert recording features recently discovered and previously unreleased music from Jefferson Airplane s fabled guitar and bass players before they became known as Hot Tuna. Jorma and Jack are joined by Joey Covington on drums, and this intense, hard-driving muscle trio creates a sonic landscape to rival Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

That's really great. And they are both really great guys. I've hung out with them a handful of occasions. Have lots of pics of Jorma with me and the GF. He autographed the pick guard on my 1982 Gibson ES-369!

Bob will be playing with them tonite in Del. Wasn't sure if he was sitting in for a couple of tunes or filling in for an absent Skoota. He sat in for a couple in Montclair on Sat. Thought we saw him backstage at the Count Basie on Fri. but he didn't sit in.. Hmmmm, tempted to take a road trip today

Thanks for the info. I was at a show at the Westchester Premier Theater in 76. They played Sea child at that show. I saw them in 75 at the Bushnell Auditorium in Hartford CT they had a second guitarist, Greg Douglass. I dont hear another guitar player on this recording so I "assumed" it was the following year. I think Bob Steeler is only doing one show with them because Skoota is unavailable.

But thanks for posting..Did you know Bob Steeler is going to play with them again..?
