Still listening to music of the late 60s thru 70s. We indeed are blessed. Saw electric hot tuna in Denver a few weeks ago. Yep, we're all aging. Kinda sad.

Seeing them next month at the Paramount in Huntington on LI. Haven/t seen these guys since Papa John and Sammy Piazza lineup at Hofstra Play house! Not expecting them to play till the sun comes up anymore (we used to go straight to the beach after Tuna shows let out!). Quarentine concerts were great!

In 1970,, Jack & Jorma wanted to name their 1st album Hot Shit. The record execs weren't having it, hence Hot Tuna. Seen them a couple times when they played Reno! This is a Really good piece...🌹

Strange Dude, I prefer not to make value statements about people who I really don't know anything about. To each their own. You seem to be a rather combative individual, that's too bad. I do not care whether you like the Dead or not. But You seem to be damn determined to tell me so. It's not necessary to do that shit, I didn't & am not challenging you. It's all ok, as long as you're not a serial killer. LSD is not for everyone, I'm sorry you feel the need to be combative, but if that's who UR it is ok with me. Hot Tuna is the Shit. You're crazy. All I said was that when I saw the Grateful Dead they played a one hour "jam" of "Dark Star " where I could find no beat or rythm whatsoever. I like the Grateful Dead, but did not enjoy the concert. It was outdoors and raining, I'm sure that wasn't helpful. Anything I say, you're replies are totally offpoint! Not something that I would expect a normal person to say! You deleted many of your replies when I expressed how strange they were, ditching the evidence, I don't blame you! I would have deleted them also if I were you "Roseman"!

Enjoy this recording, excellent show, only wish it was accompanied with the video. Labeled as an Acoustic performance, but to my surprise there is an "electric" set for those prefer electic Hot Tuna like myself. " Uncle Sam Blues " played towards the end on an electric guitar is quite good!

@MidnightmoonlightMidnightonacarouselride That's one helluva username! Most likely discourages replies. I have seen Hot Tuna open with an acoustic set and then play an electric set. Love both, but prefer listening to Jack play his thunder on an "electric" bass. Also love the drums. Perhaps that's why my favorite quarantine concert was #28 Electric Thanksgiving Day Special of all 50 shows. I have a feeling Jorma prefers to play an acoustic guitar nowadays, but I prefer to listen to his electric playing!

I think that Jack was playing the Alembic that was built (Alembic-1) for him by 1973. The bass was the first fully built Alembic Bass rather than a modified Guild Starfire. It was a bit of an experiment and the pick ups were mounted on little rails so that Jack could locate them into different positions. The story goes that it was dropped and Jack felt that it just didn't sound the same after that. He moved on to other basses after that. I saw HT in 1976 Washington D.C. and he was playing a flying V shaped bass that was built for him and was passive and had two of the Guild Bisonic pickups and was a short scale neck length. The tone was not all that great IMO. He got more of a Jack Bruce sound i.e. quite compressed with his amps on eleven.

I do not like to say it, but for my taste my favorite bass player is overplaying a bit here.

And I do not like it one bit either, but I bet most of you are great people,, PEACE Out. God bless 🌹. He is awful damn loud at times here, take care...

Maybe I am just accustomed to Jack's more recent laid-back style. You got me thinking about it, and I complain about his new stuff sometimes, too. But that does not stop me from knowing he will always be my favorite.
