Great Job!! love the end result! If you change your green cutting matte out for something that does not have a pattern your camera will focus on what you place in front of it as it has nothing in the background to focus on.

Oh hey baremetal! Yea I have an expensive camera and it’s really picky, trying to do more macro shots now but that’s a new set of problems. I going to shop for a lens that has a wider focus area if that’s possible. You inspired me to build a channel, and it’s been blowing up all day! 🕶
@BDUBZ496 жыл бұрын
baremetalHW…. I notice you often snip your wheels off and leave the axle, whereas DieRes, you will snip the whole axle off and simply glue a new one in place....although so far, I haven't seen you come across the bent axles, only straight ones. When do you guys decide to keep the axle and just push on new wheels, and when do replace it?

Great vid and custom. Motivated me to head for eBay and buy a Packin' Pacer. Oh, and after cutting out the axels I was able to use a small screwdriver and open up the crimped area that used to hold the axle in. That let the new axle and wheels sit flush with the base without grinding. A drop of thick super glue and I was good to go! Keep 'em coming. Love watching you, baremetal, and MMM along with some others.

If you think you may be doing this for some time to come, you might want to invest in a mini drill press. I made my own for working on fly fishing reels. It's much safer when drilling rivets or other small precise holes if you don't have to worry about keeping the drill and workpiece still.

Fun fact, the real Pacer's passenger door is slightly longer than the driver side to allow easier access to the back seat. Brutally hot in the summer with all that glass. My friends parents had one in the 70's. We affectinionatly called it the fish bowl.

I'm not all caught up on your videos so you may have changed to 600 or 800 grit sandpaper to keep from making scratches that telegraph through the paint. This one turned out cool! I have thought about how to make a real one cool and decided the shape just wouldn't work. But with a motor in the back, the copper/bronze red and the yellow windows does it just right.

Cool job! I’m interested in what battery charger you find to make an electro polishing set up. The one I bought from harbor freight has a “spark proof” safety on it that rendered it useless for electro polishing. :/
@SianaGearz6 жыл бұрын
Battery charger? Just a current limited lab power supply. Or any 12V or so power brick you have and CV/CC XL6009 module from China for a couple bucks, they make some with LED readouts for set voltage and current now too. Or just experiment with batteries at first, connect as many in series as you have to until it does something, should take only a handful.
@DiecastResurrection6 жыл бұрын
Yup I bought a desktop variable power supply so I can fine tune the voltage, you'll see it on upcoming videos.

Another fantastic one! I love the contrast between the yellow glass and the red body. Good call. I didn't care too much for the yellow car with yellow glass in your book. As a side note... This is on Mattel/Hot Wheels designers... Has anyone else ever noticed that Hot Wheels specifically chose the Pacer that doesn't look like the stereotypical Pacer? But, it's not odd that they chose the wagon for this model instead of the sedan. It's odd that they chose the wagon, went out of their way to elongate the side rear glass, just like they should have, but they failed to divide it into two sections, the front section being noticably shorter that the rear section. Yes, the car is supposed to have approximately ⅓ front side glass and approximately ⅔ rear side glass. These are life's inexplicable little mysteries that keep me up at night. I think of these things so you don't have to. 😁😁😁

05:40 - To undent a roof, cut a piece of wood so that it will fit in the roof area snugly. Put the wood in a vice, so that it can't move, and is pointing upright. Put the car body on the end you have trimmed. Using a small hammer, gently tap the roof flat using the wood to support the car body, which you hold firmly. A few gentle taps should straighten the metal.
