Fantastic Job! Maybe you can try soda blasting it with baking soda and getting in the pits a little deeper then plate it for a few minutes, clean it and sand it and keep plating it until you get the desired affect. Kinda like painting layers. It would be cool to see you experiment with it in any case. Thanks fore the great vid.

Once again an excellent restoration. I find these videos or any videos about Hot Wheels cars to be very relaxing and takes my mind off negative things like politics. I've been getting into collecting diecasts. It's a nice hobby. Although I wish I could restore all the cars I ruined as a kid. That's the only thing that makes me sad about it. But still, I marvel at your fantastic work. You remind of another diecast restorer called Marty's Matchbox Makeovers, and I discovered your channel thanks to seeing recommendations for your videos while watching him. You probably won't read since this is months old, but thanks for calming me down when I was angry. 😁

Zinc alloy steel. As long as the zinc holds up on the surface of the block you will be zinc plating your car. But eventually the zinc atoms will disappear and the block will just be steel.

You can get a roll of zinc made for cedar shake roofing. I think it's called moss stop, cuz that's what it does. The last of of our cdn. pennies were made of zinc (I use them as washers) You might have to get rid of the copper plating on them, but a good cheap zinc source. Cool T-Bird.

I am rather surprised that you don't "prime" the body before applying your finish color. But I understand why - you want the finish of the body / metal to show thru the color - almost like a super high-gloss paint finish! The finish on the top turned out great! Nice job and thanks for sharing with us.

You can take a page from the full-size body guys and the plastic modelers, and use a bit of putty to fill the imperfections. I recommend the Squadron white putty. Since it's softer thant he metal , when you sand, it will wear away much faster then the surrounding base metal, allowing you to get flawless surfaces for the paint. The better the base, the better the paint job.
@DiecastResurrection5 жыл бұрын
Sir the paint is transparent over a zinc plated body, I can’t use filler unless it was lead or something metal.
@tjh449615 жыл бұрын
Diecast Resurrection, I realized that after I watched a few more of your videos, which are very entertaining, btw. Back when I ran r/c cars, which are clear Lexan, we used similar paints, and in order to get the similar effect, we put the color on first, then backed the color with either silver or gold metallic. ( you paint the underside of the body, so the paints go on in reverse order). Maybe you could use solder?

You do some great work on these. I've been enjoying a number of the Redline Restoration vids. I have a number of hot wheels that aren't really collectible dates or quality but, I use them as gaming/scenery pieces in miniatures battles. Thing is, I noticed that neither you nor the other experts ever paint or blackwash the interiors, grills and other parts. I'm sure that's because you are trying to maintain a level of "collectible authenticity" by keeping it as close to spec as possible. I am very curious about what you'd do to amp up the level or "realism" on a car that wasn't a true collectible by date or type. Or even if you've ever tried to do something like that. Great content man. Thanks for sharing this with us. Makes me miss my old hot wheels collection.
