Good stuff! I remember when i was a kid when the ultrahots were 1st released, that blue wind splitter was one of the very 1st, along with the red sol-aire and there was a green porsche looking thing and the science friction. ( i cant remember if the gold or silver one came 1st). I had maybe 600 or 700 cars back then and those ultrahots were all probably in my top 20 or 30. Didnt know anything about graphite then, but they ran plenty smooth without it. Still they were no match for my old 55 chevy with the gold wheels. Honest to goodness, that car went undefeated for probably 10 years. Oh how i wish i had my old collection from back then.

I have a car that used to be faster than everything we raced as a kid. I do not think it ever got beat growing up. I had several hundred cars as well. I kept them and that is how some of this started when I dug them out a few years ago. The rabbit hole is large!! That car today, is still fast but not elite with the graphite. It still holds a special place to me though.

Those Wind Splitters are no joke when you find good one, too bad that later versions of same casting aren't anything special.

Great stuff Dale!! Yeah, I hear you with one of your early video comments. It is always amazing how some cars sitting on the shelf after axle lube get faster, then others, go backward. I certainly do plenty of head scratching! Good ol' Red Pill! Wonderful Wind Splitters....One almost Blew (or should that be blue) the top 48 away! And the one green one, that suddenly came alive! Perfect example that one should not always give up on working some cars. May have just been an odd large piece of graphite, dislodging, especially with those .5mm diameter axles! You’re exactly right! I cannot tell you how many cars all of a sudden wake up for no reason. This is why we test and test, I have seen bad cars zoom up the ranks and others fall for no reason. My Mattel Chargers have fallen off, no explanation why.
