U can have 2 options. 1. Take it pff your other destroyed hotpoint and have a working one 2. Call hotpoint because it caught fire as ots an affected model and they give u a replacement

I would say it’s worth cleaning up and putting a new door lock in and selling it or giving it away

These machines - had some models with dangerous burning door locks and machines going on fire and exploding... models were disconnected and discontinued. and under law scrapped unless hotpoint replaced the door locks.. but eventually they were stopped due to safety reasons and replaced by hotpoint...

But you are the master of washing machines, i believe in your abilitys 😀 Its odd that the door switch connector burnt up, i would follow the brown wires and see where they go, a hidden fault maybe. Check the motor, to see if its dead.

no idea, but those colours are for something so why you connect 2 browns? red is a live one and 2 brown ones are neutral? and all might have to be connected as the board needs to know that the electromagnet is switched on

Wonder if Hotpoint would give a new machine for it still now, or maybe this machine was abandoned because of an exchange. Maybe it wasn’t worth the tinkering around with it. Although it’s obvious to see that the interlock design was an design flaw, and it would be easy to ignite if the right combination of circumstances came together.

@@MarcLeslie98fm Took the owners a long time to notice the issue. One would wonder how many machines still exist under recall but not repaired/replaced. Will be interesting if Owen manages to bodge a repair which is safe and effective using alternative parts/spares.

Owen, I'm thinking that the board needs to know something so the extra wire has to send a signal. maybe you can trace the circuit in the door lock switch, cheers

New loom and lock i see no ends of these bloody things but normally i find the handle also broken because of the door locks burning out

Only thing u can do with this my friend is smash it up. If its been registered and thrown out then it's no use. The door wiring is linked to the drain pump wiring, so first thing that generally happens is the door locks, drain pump starts, and then fills. There are parts available for the repair of these, but unfortunately I can't go into that here. Would help ya if I could. Only again I can give ya is smash it.

This one was from a few months ago. Found the footage in a clearout last week. About 30 vids. I have no memory of what I did with this. It may have been an inverter motor (you’d remember better than I). I think it may have gone straight out again to the big laundry in the sky.

@@bootsowen yeah they had an older style inverter motor, they have changed them for newer style inverter motors, absolutely almost silent when on, not a lot of them machines still exist, they have either been replaced or repaired so won't find many of them out there now days, can still find some, but at the time there was huge media campaigns and calls and emails to people with affected models, so most have been sorted, I've been with the company a good while now and can count on one hand the amount I've seen, and I've seen thousands of machines. 😂

The problem with our washer was we couldn't open the door even when it had finished washing , how to know if interlock is broken mine has electric going through it but doesn't click

After taking interlock apart decided to buy replacement because I don't want to electrocute myself

Replace to door lock with a black one. Do not use the whit door lock as they are the faulty door lock as I have heard

Sadly dont fix it. u cant sell it knowing its a recall, the replacing door lock wont fix it as it trips the PCB knowing its changed etc... PCB would need reprogramming
