The "funny box" is called a command block and its used to make custom stuff in minecraft without the use of a mod or in this case, used for a command to teleport a person

I don’t know if anyone’s told you this yet, but this prison map is actually from an old minecraft game called Cops and Robbers!! It used to be really popular back in early minecraft days, and a bunch of the famous mcyt at the time would do little roleplays on it

The funny box is actually a command block, an unbreakable block which creative players can set up to do commands for them. It's one of the few items that are only obtainable using commands(as in, they don't appear in the creative inventory)
