hey very nice tutorial, your mentioned in your tutorial that it is possible to generate a third vertex color that is necessary to get the correct mixing color effect. I Am trying to figure out how but until jet I had no success. it is possible that you do a tutorial about that or help me out with a scene file? I would highly appreciate that. Thanks Carel

Yes, the imported colors are just standard maya color per vertex sets. You can use these with vray using the VRayVertexColors node and specifying the color set name to use.

You can of course export animated meshes as alembic caches from houdini, but in this case: No, It was just a static frame, as i was using the file operator to export. You can also export numbered sequence with the file operator. However, for alembic files you will usually use the Alembic ROP, which pretty much works the same way as the file operator but exports a frame range to a single alembic cache.
