Part of me is always a little relieved when high end products don't perform very well because then I know I won't be tempted to spend money on them.

I watch Robert Welsh and he’s a professional makeup artist, u should try his concealer technique, he puts a dot on the inner eye and a dot on the outer, he blends the dots in place and anything he has left he blends it across, I’ve been doing it this way and I hardly get any creasing

I'll definitely try this (and I'll check him out! Thanks, Nicola!)

Completely agree with your review. I returned this after trying it different ways for a week or so. I'm currently using the Tarte corrector with the First Aid Beauty Bendy Avocado Concealer over it. I don't set it, and it looks good all day on my 56 year old dark circles.

I tend to stick close to my skin colour with concealer too... going too fair often defeats the purpose of concealer, specially when trying to conceal dark shadows. Going too light often doesn't conceal the shadows, just turns them ashy. Going closer to your skin shade actually corrects the darkness better (and actually ends up looking fairly brightening anyway since it's corrected and hidden the darkness).

You mentioned that when you put concealer over a color corrector under your eyes it ends up being a mess. I don't really have wrinkles yet, but I know the issue all too well. My solution is to use the minimal amount of corrector necessary, then use the concealer very strategically. I don't dot directly on my face, but rather put a large dot of concealer on the back of my hand and then use a thin brush to place a tiny amount of concealer over the darkest spots. I then tap over the concealer with a finger. Hope this helps you or anyone else who might be reading this

I have dry skin and crepeypness and this concealer is very smoothing for me. Maybe try using less product. Since it is full coverage, I only use a little bit only where I need it. I always just put a small dot on the back of my hand and work with my finger from there. I don’t use nearly as much product as everyone else on youtube, if I did, nothing would work for my undereyes, everything would settle and accentuate. I don’t use powder with this either and looks beautiful.

WOW, Shelly, I was a year after this video ..like today 5/29/21 gifted this concealer..and I am very mature with many lines and 🏜 desert dry skin...SOOO, WHAT I LEARNED, IS that similar skins or not.. Its completely true that the chemistry of how we all react to a product will simply many times be drastically differnt...I ❤ HOW smoothing and hydrating this appears under my eyes, im quite shocked actually. I have had it on now for about 8hrs and it still looks amazing, My Holy Grail concealers are Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away and Pat Mcgrath sublime...but what, this is really something, please give it another go, but maybe first rehydrate under ur eyes and OR please see how it reacts over Becca brightening corrector or Bobbi Brown corrector which is what I have it on with...as always I love you, ur content and all ur teachings... ❤elanie...yup thats me melanie again🤣
@dawnmolero17754 жыл бұрын
Hmmm....I have very dry under eyes and have an opposite experience than you. Charlotte's Magic Away looks awful on me. This hourglass is wonderful. I do apply a little differently than you. I do two or three little dots and blend it in with a brush. A lot less than you use. It it's one of my favorites.

Hello Shelly! Do you ever use products that are meant for one type of use but you use them for another? For example, using blush as eyeshadow or lipstick as cheek color. A lot of people are on a “no-buy” phase of their lives and diving into their stash. Ya know, what is old is new again. Using products in a different way might feel new when they actually aren’t! Allergy meds are making me loopy, so thought I’d take advantage and drop you a line! Be well!
@lovemyrainydays4 жыл бұрын
I love this idea! I do this all the time - blush as eyeshadow, eyeshadow as contour and brow powder, lipstick as cream blush, mascara as brow gel and to hide a little grey around the hairline. I also like using foundation sponges and powder puffs for cream and powder blush application.

The most common thing I do (usually for no-makeup makeup days) is use my bronzer in the crease of my eyes for quick eyeshadow :)

I swatched this one in store awhile ago on my dry hand and it looked awful so I am glad I resisted. I love the Tilbury product but HATE the packaging, literally knocked myself in the head because it gets stuck and I have to pull the lid off with might. Maybe I will go for the McGrath- I need a new concealer. Thanks for confirming my suspicions on this one!!
@goow4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the CT packaging is... yuck. The Pat McGrath formula is quite nice (I'd call it worth the price, but I'm also completely in love PMG... which doesn't change how I feel about products that aren't as good but it definitely makes me feel like the good ones are worth the money!

Thanks so much for this review - I had this on my look into but then the stores closed so that helped 😁 This and the new Dior concealer - I’ll wait till the stores open to look into it further . Oh ya, I also broke down and ordered the ND highlighter that u love ... fingers crossed that I love it, god knows I don’t need it - I have a huge makeup bag full of them 🤪. I bought the ND Diamond and Blush face highlight and contour palette in 01 Darya when it was on sale for like $59, down from like $110 so ya know I had to jump on that . was obsessing about it in store FOREVER.

WHOA that is a NICE score on the face palette!!! Let me know how you like the highlight! I only held off on the face palette because I'll never hit pan on the Bloom one I've already got, but... considering I still haven't hit pan on the highlight and I've had it for over a year and use it almost every day, I think I should just get the face palette =D See how I rationalize these things?! 😂

I'm having the same results lately with this concealer. I liked it better for the first week of use, but after that I noticed some of the same things you described. The biggest issues I have with it are coverage and lasting power. 😕 I think I'm going to try the Pat McGrath one next. One that I've been enjoying lately is one that I bought last year, but didn't use much, the Ouma Beauty concealer. I hope all is well in your part of VA. Unfortunately, the spread is starting to pick up here in NC, but it's nowhere near as bad as what my family's dealing with in the DMV.

I'm definitely enjoying the Pat McGrath - debating buying one shade lighter in it. Virginia is still climbing and locally the numbers are going up faster every day. I never thought I'd see the day where I was literally scared to leave the house, but if I bring this home to my mom, it's highly likely she would not survive it. So I really can't catch this until there's a treatment or vaccine for her! Heck... enough middle-aged people are dying from it that I don't really want to catch it myself, either. :-/ Stay safe down there, Takisha!!!! 💜

Hi Shelly - it’s been over a year since you posted this. Hope you get notifications re: comments. You mentioned that you got the second lightest shade: Creme because the lightest shade was warm / yellow. I looked at the name of the first (Birch) it claimed to be neutral. Just wanted to understand how you decided to select this particular shade. You and I almost match perfectly in foundation and concealer shades….
@goow2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristina! I'm just going by the photos (since I haven't been able to swatch the shades in stores). They do describe Birch as neutral but it looks to me like it leans just to the yellow side of neutral. I prefer a cool/slightly pink undertone on me even though I can get away with neutral, so if something looks like it has any yellow to it, I go the other way.
