Absolutely. We did several videos on the city of Guanajuato! Still our favorite city in our entire journey so far. Some of those places have closed since we made the video unfortunately. But some are still open. If we retired there, and that is a big IF. We'll surely do an update. But that may be years from now. So glad it helped you out a little. Several folks have told me that Don Beto’s is closed now. This is a travesty. His tortas to this day were still the best I’ve ever had. We miss Guanajuato and still talk about it often. We actually mention it right at the beginning of our latest video about our drive from Mexico to Colombia. What an incredible city. Charles, he STILL talks about that hot chocolate and at every restaurant we go to he asks for “chocolate caliente con bombones” it’s so cute but he gets sad when they don’t have it and has already asked more than once to go back to Guanajuato. We just love the Mexican bakeries. When in Guanajuato, we often went to a court yard off Ave Benito Juarez, Plaza de San Fernando, that was all restaurants and cafes. A nice easy spot. I'm sure you know the place I mean.

Hey Ralph. Sadly I've heard reports that Don Betos has closed since my video. He sold the place apparently? I'm still in shock. It definitely wasn't from lack of business. He was always hopping. Thanks for the food tour. It looks SO good. Have you seen many places offering gluten-free food? Obviously some things are naturally gluten-free. It'd be awesome to get a gluten-free pastry, wrap or whatever. Since you've been through quite a bit of Mexico in various trips, do you think the prices in Guanajuato are pretty average compared to other places in Mexico?

Hi Teri, sorry for the delay in responding to your question. I had to wait till I was with Brittany to get an answer to the first part of your question. So she informs me that there are gluten-free bakeries here in Guanajuato. Several of them actually. And while not as widespread as you'd find in the states, perhaps more so than many other cities of Mexico. We've met some expats that are strictly gluten-free that live here in Guanajuato and they've found it to be a friendly city to them. As far as prices go, I would say they are a bit higher than average in the center of town because of the tourism. But just outside of the center the prices are comparable to other cities in Mexico. Oh don't get me wrong irma we LOVE Mexican food. It is our favorite! We were just amazed at how cosmopolitan Guanajuato is and how you have so many different choices. But know that even as we continue our journey and are currently in Peru, we STILL look up Mexican restaurants. We love Mexico and everything about it. ~ Eric
