I wish Renly had taken the Iron Throne in the end, somewhat. People say he would’ve been a bad king but I don’t think he would’ve been. Sure he was arrogant and boastful but he did have more of a kind heart in the show than in the books. He was a very intelligent, tactical man and didn’t like the idea of killing for sport like Robert did. He was never a violent person and he never wanted to hurt anyone much. He would probably make very smart decisions if he became king. And since he married Margaery, the Tyrells would’ve helped him fund his crown and probably would’ve been great rulers with him as well. They gave to the people what they wanted and never got them killed afterwards. The Tyrells were manipulative people but generous and kind when needed to be. Even if that kindness was fake in the end, it wouldn’t matter because she and her family would be giving to the people instead of killing and it would’ve been a win win situation for everyone and not just themselves. Plus they also showed no signs of cruelty in them either. Because of that, I believe Renly and Margaery would’ve been great rulers for the Seven Kingdoms and would’ve brought some peace to Westeros. Just make Loras Renly’s hand in place of Mace and everyone’s good to go.

In the books, even when stannis has only 1500 men left to his name and is freezing his balls off in the north, Stannis still lives rent free in the minds of cersei and her court, meanwhile the ironborn whom are still a formidable force and are led by king Cthulu worshipper are treated as a petty nuisance. It really speaks volumes of how dangerous stannis could be.

In no way comparable to Stannis who didn't even get the chance to rule. 2) "He inspires no love or loyalty" biggest fraudulent argument ever. Davos is the most loyal right hand man in Westeros, inspired by Stannis. Stannis' soldiers follow him through a blaze of wildfire or in the bitter cold beyond the wall. Renly's knights played summer tournaments and would flip sides in the blink of an eye. Shows how Renly was next to nothing to them. @@zawa7497 Georges already confirmed that Stannis will burn Shireen, and he's stuck in a blizzard, just like he was in the show. He also took the time to let us know in the last chapter of ADWD that Stannis had a cage full of ravens. He doesn't believe in any god, but he's seen what this god can do. He's burned someone for "good wind". He was going to burn Edric, because he saw what the leeches did. And, again, in the last chapter, we see that he's starting to burn people alive while stuck in the blizzard. His story is 100% building up toward him making a giant sacrifice and no way Georges actually vindicates the burning of a little girl by her father.

Stannis Baratheon is still one of the most fascinating and interesting characters in ASOIAF and even GoT despite the poor job adapting him (that has more to do with Stephen Dillane’s performance that anything the writers gave him). A war hero who knew and did his duty and would reward others not on status but on merit. And yet still he let years of resentment chew away at him until he turned to a Red Hawk to get what he wanted and what was his by rights, performing increasingly brutal actions and crimes ostensibly for the good of the realm but at too high of a cost to his honor and his loved ones. One of the things I’m most looking forward to on books 6-7 is how his story comes to an end, even if it’s the same as the show’s I know GRRM will make it a lot more interesting and we’ll written
